TOP GEAR: 50 YEARS OF BOND CARS BY BBC HOME ENTERTAINMENT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY WHOM YOU KNOW Our Coverage Sponsored by Orient-Express

The famed vintage train continues to ride with its latest stop in Manhattan’s West Village. Osman Cakir, owner of Turks and Frogs, re-conceptualized its famous voyages into a posh, time-reversing cocktail bar with a flair for the spirits of yesteryear. The bar reflects the nostalgia of train travel with an amber glow, warm vintage-tinted beech wood panels, faux windows and bronzed luggage racks. There is a story for every item on the menu at Orient Express. The Nagelmackers, a blend of port, tequila and Pimm’s served with a lemon peel and Angostura bitters barrel aged to perfection is their ode to the man who financed the train in its infancy. The Agatha (Gin, lemon and honey topped with house-made grapefruit-thyme soda) refers to the infamous writer who brought us “Murder On The Orient Express”. The beverage menu also pays homage to forgotten spirits such as Kummel, St. Germaine and Cocchi Americano. Orient Express introduces a menu of small plates inspired by the Orient Express and its stops, with Istanbul—the culminating destination—given special attention. Cold dishes like Hummus, and pastirma, take a cue from the Turkish endpoint, while a carefully chosen cheese plate sourced from nearby Murray’s voyages through Italy and France. More substantial eats are served in skillets, such as Ratatouille and a presentation of cabbage with ultra-thin apple slices and Hungarian sausage—a nod to Eastern Europe. For dessert, the Milles Crepes, a layered crepe cake with praline filling, a nice touch befitting the concept.
Whom You Know has Highly Recommended Orient-Express
Sip and stay, and sip some more—this destination is unlike any other.

Cars are a real passion in our family. From driving to racing to collecting, we are a family of gear heads. Since we already enjoy both the British and English versions of the show Top Gear, it was exciting to get the 50 Years of Bond Cars DVD. Thanks to BBC Home Entertainment, you can get so caught up in the last 50 years of some of the sickest cars on the planet that were used in the movies. Hosted and presented by Richard Hammond, you get the inside scoop on some of Bond’s best cars. The Z8 is one of my favorite cars of all times and was a newer car in the Bond Family. However, you get to look back at many of them and here stories that will feed your passion for Bond and the cars. I enjoyed interviews with Daniel Craig as he looks back at his time as Bond getting to experience these incredible cars. And as they do in Top Gear form, they must do some silly challenges with the cars and test them against the environment or each other. So sit back and grab a martini and enjoy this action packed DVD about the Bond’s magnificent cars!

The need for speed and slick cars go hand in hand. Who doesn't love James Bond and who doesn't love fast cars? If you are like me then these two things are right up your alley. Imagine how excited we were to watch Top Gear's 50 Years of Bond Cars. I loved all the awesome scenes from the Bond movies showcasing beautiful cars. Chase scenes are broken down and the viewer learns secrets from the movie. Expect special guests from the movie and lots of cool cars. From Goldfinger to Skyfall there is something for everyone. Learn about the stunts bumps and all the Bond glamour. This is the perfect gift for car and James Bond lovers alike. The perfect DVD for a fun evening at home, 50 Years of Bond Cars is just that cool.

Oh, I hope I don’t come across as yet another British-ass-kissing
American, but – wait, you know what? I don’t care if I do – the BBC’s
“Top Gear: 50 Years of Bond Cars” is simply fantastic. Aside from this
show’s stellar as usual production values (e.g., Top Gear’s
cinematography is always first class), the research is deep, almost
scholarly, and the writing is simply superb. Documentarian
extraordinaire Ken Burns himself could not have done a better job, I
swear to you on a stack of Playboys. We all know of James Bond’s Aston
Martins and Loti – the DB5s and the submarine Esprit are examined
thoroughly and in surprising ways -- but “50 years” also reminds of
Hornets and Matadors and super-sexy Toyotas – yes, you read that right
– in the Bond oeuvre. One warning: Don’t be frightened by an ancient
Roger Moore...
