Alexander Calder: Works on Paper from 1930 – 1976 // A Selling Exhibition at Sotheby's S|2 Gallery
Sotheby’s selling exhibition of Alexander Calder: Works on Paper from 1930 – 1976 will be installed in its S|2 galleries on 15 August, running through 13 September and offering collectors rare access to a range of desirable works by Calder outside of the auction season. The gallery will come alive with the swirling forms and vibrant colors of the great master in an exhibition exploring his dynamic works on paper from the 1930s to the end of his life in 1976, and will offer a comprehensive look at his most coveted themes from each decade of his storied career. Calder’s gouaches often tell a story, and the present collection amasses a lifetime of narrative for the Surrealist master. The exhibition is Sotheby's fifth to focus on a single artist, following those dedicated to Sam Francis, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama and Jean-Michel Basquiat, which were staged in both New York and Hong Kong. The exhibition will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm or by appointment. For more information on the selling exhibition, please visit www.sothebys.com/calder.
