Bookbinder Specialties' Sweet Burgundy Onion Soup Highly Recommended by Whom You Know! We are Proud to Kick Off Coverage of this Illustrious American Brand!
It isn't quite fall yet, but I am already starting to look forward to soups, stews, and other hearty meals. When I saw Bookbinder Specialties' Sweet Burgundy Onion Soup, I had to try some even before soup season begins. Bookbinder's uses only natural and gluten-free ingredients, including burgundy wine and French brandy. It is so good that this soup will have you running back for seconds. One of the best parts: all you have to do is heat it up! And if you want a little more than just soup for dinner, use it as an "au jus" for a beef pot roast. Yum!
Old Original Bookbinder's restaurant has been a part of Philadelphia's history since 1865. For those of us who can't make it to the restaurant, we are in luck as their soups, breadcrumbs and seasonings are available for purchase in specialty and grocery stores nationwide. Bookbinder's gourmet Sweet Burgundy Onion soup is out-of-this-world delicious! I purchased a great, warm, crusty roll from the bakery to accompany this soup and I highly recommend you do the same! Sauteed onions with burgundy wine and French brandy make this soup absolute perfection. If you aren't able to make it to Old Original Bookbinder's restaurant in Philadelphia, at least you can bring a bit of Philly home to you!
Bookbinders Specialties have been bringing the products from the Old Philadelphia establishment to your home since the 1970's. As a child, my Grandmother or my Mother would take me into town for a very special outing, and we would eat at Bookbinder's. What can make you feel more grown up when you're 5 or so? The beauty of the table: linen, crystal, and my favorite always, lobster. Bookbinders remains a fond and cherished memory for me, and whenever I'm back in Philly, it's a must for a wonderful meal. With their new collection of gluten free soups, their kitchen visits your home, and makes your entire family happy. Or just you, with a yen for a good soup on a late night. The Onion soup is great as a stand alone, or can be used in your roasting. The burgundy wine and French brandy give it that seafaring edge, redolent of far away adventures, and full of chopped onions. Use their soup, add some french bread, cover it all with a layer of gruyere, pop it in the oven, and wait for it: heaven!
“We’re a small company focused on providing the ultimate in quality and convenience for our customers,” said Colin O’Neil, Bookbinder’s New Business Manager. “We recognize there is a growing need for great tasting, healthy foods that can be easily prepared. Furthermore, Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity are increasing and many people need a range of healthy and great tasting alternatives.”
Bookbinder Specialties will be showcasing two food service products, their brand-new, all-natural and gluten-free New England Clam Chowder and their legendary Snapper (turtle) Soup. Their award winning line of all natural, gluten free, ready-to-serve vegetable soups, in 15 oz glass jars will also be on display.
The first four flavors in the gourmet line, which were introduced in 2010, were awarded a gold medal in the 2011-2012 Gourmet Products Awards. Dozens of food judges, including VIPs, celebrity chefs, professional consultants and specialty retail store owners, selected the Bookbinder soup line as the best new gourmet product in the Soup, Stews and Beans category. The four original flavors included Butternut Squash and Mushroom Soup, Zesty Tomato Soup, Brandywine Mushroom Soup, and Sweet Burgundy Onion Soup. The awards revealed the growing interest in gourmet taste, healthy ingredients, green packaging, and supporting charitable causes. Since then, the gourmet soup line has expanded with four new unique flavors including Cuban Black Bean Soup, Irish Potato Leek, Tuscan Minestrone, and Sicilian Tomato-Zucchini Bisque.
