Highly Recommended by Whom You Know: Introducing Get Me a Switch by Cottage Lane Kitchen! We are Happy to Inaugurate Coverage of this Remarkable Brand

With summer in full swing, hot dog consumption is at its peak. That means millions of Americans are reaching for the relish! When choosing your relish, do not settle for anything less than the best! Cottage Lane Kitchen has produced a top shelf version of this tangy condiment that will have you piling on more and more. Called "Get Me a Switch," this relish has a spicy kick, and it's made from all natural ingredients.  Clearly their naming creativity also shows that they have a personality which we like, and it is witty, not overly ridiculous so we are still assured of their excellence.  Try it out with other foods too. I had some with scrambled egg whites, and my breakfast went from bland to delicious!
We at Whom You Know don't settle for run-of-the-mill or mundane.  Which is why the Get Me A Switch relish from Cottage Lane Kitchen is right up our alley! Based in Orange County, NC, and founded by Samantha Cheek Swan, Cottage Lane is dedicated to bringing extra flavor to food without overpowering it. Get Me A Switch was the first product released, and it's a spicy pepper relish based on an old family recipe created by Samantha's great-grandmother in the 19th century.  We love that history!  It is made with jalapeno and serrano peppers, and is a fantastic addition to just about any meal. It can be used on sandwiches, in salads, on eggs, on burgers, and tons more! For my first experience, I tried it in place of salsa on top of tortilla chips, and absolutely loved it! It was savory and exciting, and just spicy enough without being overpowering. As if it wasn't great enough, the fact that it is made from all-natural, locally sourced ingredients and contains no preservatives makes it even better. Highly recommended!
How to use relish? Although Americans have made the hot dog a national treasure and the accouterments practically sacred, relish does rise above it all. Cottage Lane Kitchens makes one called "Get Me a Switch!" and it's not your basic sweet pickle. The label says " spicy pepper relish", and if you're a lover of all things hot, this relish will be a basic addition to your pantry. Use it in everything you need a tomato sauce for: nachos, casseroles, and of course sandwiches will all benefit from the touch of extra flavor and spice. The chile peppers in here give the relish its zing, and it's tempered by sweet bell peppers and the other natural ingredients. Safe to say, it's not for the faint of heart, but it's not too hot that you won't enjoy the bite. I thought it might bump up my Mother's deviled egg recipe, and I was right! Try it now with grilled menus, and later with oven preparations.
The true test of any relish is the traditional, all-American hot dog. This all-natural relish did not disappoint! I don’t always put relish on my hot dogs, but after trying Cottage Lane Kitchen’s Get Me a Switch, I’ll be PILING it on! The zestiness of this relish was great complement to a juicy beef hot dog, providing the perfect combination of flavors. Why stop with a hot dog, though? I loved this relish so much, I already have a list of other things I’ll try it with. I think it would be great on my morning eggs, especially in an omelette, and also great on a sandwich (as an alternative to mayonnaise) with your favorite lunch meat. The uses are endless, and this zesty relish will have you coming back for more.

This all-natural relish is made from jalapeno peppers, sweet red peppers, onions, serrano peppers, sugar, water, apple cider vinegar, celery salt, and garlic. Not only are there no preservatives added but this relish also has no trans fats and is gluten free. This healthy relish goes great with anything! I’ve put it on hamburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, fish and I’ve even put it in potato salad. You can also mix this relish with mayo and even mustard to make a good sandwich condiment. You can truly add this relish to spice up any meal! Its sweet and savory taste gives any plain meal an impeccable kick.

About Cottage Lane Kitchen Products

Founded in 2011, Cottage Lane Kitchen's intention is to bring flavor to food without overpowering it. Condiments to compliment different dishes, cooking styles and palates are the main focus of the business. Our mission is to relish the world with pepper love and create condiments to surprise and delight.

The company's flagship product, 'Get Me A Switch', a sweet and spicy pepper relish was launched in October 2011. This relish is based on a heirloom recipe passed down from the founder's great grandmother (Granny) in the 19th century; to be refined by her grandfather in the 20th, perfected by her father and updated by her in the 21st. The name, 'Get me a Switch', acknowledges its southern heritage with spirit and describes the switching of its flavor from sweet to heat. It spices up pasta dishes, egg burritos, hot dogs, hamburgers, devilled eggs, soups, sandwiches, and so much more!

A second pepper relish was launched in May 2012 called 'Cape Fear'. With a touch of habanero and the fruity sweetness of pineapple and citrus, Cape Fear works well with cheeses, particularly goat's cheese, fish & seafood, pork, hummus, and vegetable dishes.

Both are made from all natural, locally sourced ingredients with no preservatives, are gluten free and contain low or no sodium. All products are sourced and made in the USA.

About Samantha Cheek Swan, founder of Cottage Lane Kitchen

Growing up in the Southern US and with family roots in North Carolina (in particular to Orange County since colonial times), Samantha lived in many US states, as well as the United Kingdom, The Republic of South Africa and Turkey. She studied Art History at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and used her degree working at the Huntington Art Gallery at the University of Texas at Austin (now the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art), as well as a number of commercial galleries in London, UK.

In November 2009, she left her job and decided to travel the world with her husband. One of the things that they found most enjoyable when traveling was sampling the cuisines of other cultures and finding new and different condiments to take home with them. Their fridge always has a multitude of 'upside down sauces', as one friend labeled them, as Samantha was always trying to drain the last drop of goodness out of each bottle. Samantha, has always felt condiments have been a little sidelined in the kitchen – after all what would Mexican food be without salsa (a type of relish!), Chinese dishes without soy sauce, Sushi without Wasabi, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers & Fries without ketchup, and BBQ'd meats without sauce?

Returning to visit family in NC December 2010, Samantha, with her father, made her first batch of the family pepper relish. No one had made it since the 1990s - her grandfather was the last to cook a batch and these reserves were dwindling. There was no written recipe, so she set out to record her father's dash of this and 'that looks about right' of that with measurements of cups and teaspoons. After careful measuring of ingredients and standardizing the types of peppers to use (historically, the family used whatever type of pepper grown in their garden that season), 'The Switch' was ready to be shared with a wider audience.

Throughout her travels and relocations, there is only one place that has remained a constant in Samantha's life, her family's home on Cottage Lane in Chapel Hill, NC. Her great-grandmother and grandfather grew peppers on its land and, at varying times in their lives, all four generations (her great-grandmother, grandfather, father and herself) have lived there and produced relish in its kitchen. Therefore, her company couldn't be named anything other than 'Cottage Lane Kitchen'...
