Lenovo Announces New Thin Client to Expand End-to-End Enterprise Solutions at VMworld® 2013
Lenovo today expanded its end-to-end enterprise solutions portfolio with a new thin client, the Lenovo ThinkCentre M32. Powered by an Intel Celeron Platform and including rich legacy port support, ThinkCentre M32 thin client provides enterprise level functionality and delivers great value for customers wanting a desktop virtualization solution. Thin client solutions offer lower capital investments and can reduce management and maintenance costs. Security risks from viruses, spyware or theft are also virtually eliminated as all data resides on the network, not the thin client.
Lenovo’s ThinkCentre M32 thin client offers customers a choice of a flexible Linux-based thin client operating system, LeTOS or Windows Embedded Standard 7. The thin client also features Lenovo Terminal Manager (LTM) software that is effective, secure and easy to use management software that helps customers centrally manage thin client assets. Lenovo collaborated with Devon IT, a worldwide leader of thin client technology to develop these advanced thin client software solutions.
“The ThinkCentre M32 is a small form factor thin client that adds value to our quality desktop products and helps enterprises meet end-to-end IT solutions for desktop virtualization,” said Victor Rios, vice president and general manager of Think desktop, workstation, and visuals. “It has the Energy Star 5.2 green certification, making it great energy saving solution at a great value for virtual desktop environments.”
“We look forward to working with Lenovo and Devon IT to drive the use of VDI solutions,” says Erik Frieberg, vice president, Product Marketing, End-User Computing, VMware. “Customers value rich, personalized virtual desktops that are available 24/7 from different locations and devices, and the new Lenovo ThinkCentre M32 with VMware Horizon View™ can help broaden their options while offering the latest benefits of VDI.”
The newly released Lenovo ThinkCentre M32 thin client – unveiled today at VMworld® 2013 in Lenovo’s booth 2105 - is a high-performance stateless device powered for productivity with Intel Celeron Processor. The M32 comes with a rich feature set that provides enterprise level functionality at minimal cost. Centralized processing makes it easy to manage data and hardware assets, monitor system access and enforce security policies and procedures, significantly increasing internal data security.
"We are committed to providing leading and cost-effective thin client technology for users," explained Joe Makoid, President, Devon IT. "When a market and technology leader like Lenovo is progressing end-to-end desktop computing solutions, it is obvious that something exciting is happening. We have always been proponents of hosted computing and centralized management as a way for IT managers to reduce costs.”
Availability
The Lenovo M32 is available starting October 2013. Pricing starts at approximately $259.
