Our pizza coverage continues with Picasso Pizza, founded by Michael Magliulo who comes straight from Naples...and everyone knows that pizza's home is Naples.  It goes without saying that he's very serious about his pizza: he's been doing it for 50 years!  Michael was taught by his grandfather in Naples.  Now in his 70's Michael shows no signs of slowing down and is a passionate restaurateur.  Picasso is quite casual-no table service-but the cuisine hits the spot.  We have reviewed few spots in Battery Park City-but know this is right near Century 21 and Gateway Plaza and the World Financial Center.  For pizza, we tried the Pizza Verdura: Peppers, Onions, Olives and Mushrooms.  The vegetable extravaganza was delicious and we loved how finely every component was chopped.  The crust was fantastic!  Eat it while it's hot...
Salad with pizza is a must, and the antipasto salad by Picasso pizza is delightful.  Everything was fresh and we loved the crunch of the peppers which were tantalizing!  It was dressed lightly and this hearty salad could be a meal in itself.  Normally, Peachy does not like olives but she liked the olives in this salad and on the pizza.
Pasta?  Yes, they can do that too. Shrimp scampi danced in a light garlic sauce perfect for summer.  We had this with a glass of white wine and the succulent little shrimps were just divine!  In the hundreds of restaurants in New York we have covered, we have never seen this before:
Their food tastes even better when we know they are helping out Ray Kelly in keeping New York safe!  This spot is right near Ground Zero...  Picasso Pizza is Terrific Takeout!  Be patriotic and support Downtown and the independent businesses that excel.
