Lenovo Selected as Constituent Stock on 2013 Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index

Lenovo Group, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, has been selected as a constituent stock of the 2013 Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index (HSCSI), focused on companies in Hong Kong and mainland China. This is the fourth year of the index and the fourth in which Lenovo has been selected. Lenovo’s continuous inclusion in this index is representative of the Company’s continued focus on sustainability and social responsibility.

Launched in 2012, the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series is Asia’s leading benchmark of sustainability investment – it is the first index series of its kind to focus exclusively on environment, social and governance (ESG) performance of publicly-traded Hong Kong and mainland China companies whose shares are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series is managed and compiled by Hang Seng Indexes Company, in collaboration with RepuTex-ESG, the ESG research arm of RepuTex Group. Constituent selection is based on a robust process that includes consideration of the results from a Corporate Sustainability Rating Assessment undertaken by RepuTex, using its proprietary Sustainability Rating framework.

For the third consecutive year, Lenovo has earned a position on the RepuTex Hong Kong Honour Board, which puts it among the top five of the 353 companies whose corporate sustainability performance was examined. In addition, Lenovo is the top rated company in the information technology sector and the only company in its sector among the Hong Kong top 20.

“We are honored to receive this recognition by the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index, as we take seriously our commitments to sustainability and social responsibility,” said Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO, Lenovo. “As we’ve grown to become the largest global PC manufacturer this year, we know that we must lead the way for the industry, and at its core that includes setting the standard in sustainability while meeting the demands of a growing business.”

As a global company, Lenovo is committed to operating ethically and promoting corporate citizenship and sustainability in all its business activities – ensuring that its products, employees, sites and suppliers are following the commitments the company has made to environmental and socially responsible business practices.

Lenovo demonstrates these commitments through transparent and responsible management of its environmental, social, and economic values:

Environmental values— meeting or exceeding all environmental requirements wherever Lenovo does business; striving to continually reduce the environmental impacts of Lenovo operations, products, and services; minimizing Lenovo’s climate change impact; and being a responsible steward of resources
Social values— ethical and responsible citizenship; providing a safe, healthy, and enriching work environment for Lenovo employees; being a fair and responsible member of the communities in which the company operates; and ensuring values and expectations are met throughout the entire supply chain
Economic values— providing long-term value for Lenovo investors and stakeholders; and enabling customers to improve their own economic situation by providing the best technology and solutions
