The New York Landmarks Conservancy Presents: Tourist in Your Own Town # 10 - Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
This month we visit the landmark Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum located within Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx as we celebrate New York’s historic beaches, parks and pools. Pelham Bay Park is more than three times the size of Central Park and is the City’s largest park. Visitors enjoy Orchard Beach, two golf courses, bridle paths, hiking trails, 13-miles of saltwater shoreline along the Long Island Sound and the historic Bartow-Pell Mansion.
This building with Greek Revival interiors dates from 1836 and is an excellent example of country living in 19th-century New York. Experience the social and architectural history first hand with a guided tour, garden stroll and trail hikes, plus look for a variety of special events.
