EarthCam Celebrates the Opening of 4 World Trade Center with Commemorative Time-Lapse Movie

WHAT: Boasting the tallest building in the United States and now the most advanced office building of the 21st century, the World Trade Center site will take the spotlight today with the opening of 4 World Trade Center. EarthCam, the innovators in construction camera technology, are premiering their commemorative time-lapse movie for the special event.

The new time-lapse showcases progress for this architecturally impressive tower from August 2009 to November 2013. Over the past 41 months, EarthCam’s MegapixelCam Robotic and GigapixelCam construction cameras documented and archived the building of this important part of New York with more than 250,000 high resolution megapixel images for a complete historic record of the construction process. In addition, the GigapixelCam generated a 1 billion pixel panorama finale of the entire project site for a one-of-a-kind look at the progress.

WHY: Designed by Pritzker-winning architect, Fumihiko Maki, 4 World Trade Center is located in the heart of downtown Manhattan and will offer direct access to almost every city subway and some of the best restaurants and shops in New York. The high-tech, green building incorporates unique features to maximize natural light and delivers spectacular views of the surrounding cityscape.

HOW: Watch as 72 floors rise up 978 feet in just 2 minutes with EarthCam’s commemorative time-lapse movie at www.youtube.com/earthcam.
