NHL Peachy: Lehner, Andersen and Sharp Named NHL 'Three Stars' of the Week for the week ending November 10, 2013

Ottawa Senators goaltender Robin Lehner, Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen and Chicago Blackhawks left wing Patrick Sharp have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending November 10, 2013.

FIRST STAR – ROBIN LEHNER, G, OTTAWA SENATORS

Lehner posted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .958 save percentage, stopping 91 of 95 shots to help the Senators win all three of their games and extend their season-long point streak to five contests (3-0-2). He made 32 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets Nov. 5, 33 stops in a 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens Nov. 7 and 26 saves in a 3-2 triumph over the Florida Panthers Nov. 9. With the trio of victories, Lehner tied the longest winning streak of his four-season NHL career (Oct. 30, 2011-Feb. 28, 2012). The 22-year-old native of Gothenburg, Sweden, has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his eight appearances this season, compiling a 3-2-2 record with a 2.13 goals-against average and .945 save percentage.

SECOND STAR – FREDERIK ANDERSEN, G, ANAHEIM DUCKS

Andersen also posted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .958 save percentage, denying 92 of 96 shots as the Ducks improved to 15-3-1, tied for the best start through 19 games in franchise history (set in 2012-13). He made 32 saves in a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers Nov. 4, helping Anaheim close out its season-long, eight-game road trip with a 5-2-1 record. Andersen then posted a pair of victories at Honda Center, recording 25 stops in a 6-2 triumph over the Buffalo Sabres Nov. 8 and a career-high 35 saves in a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks Nov. 10. The 24-year-old native of Herning, Denmark, is the first goaltender since Toronto’s Damian Rhodes (March 22, 1991-Dec. 2, 1993) to post victories in each of his first six NHL appearances, totaling a 1.41 goals-against average and .952 save percentage since his League debut Oct. 20.

THIRD STAR – PATRICK SHARP, LW, CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

Sharp led the NHL with six assists and seven points in three games to help the Blackhawks extend their point streak to seven games (6-0-1), the club’s second such streak this season (Oct. 11-24: 5?0?2). He opened the week by recording 1-1—2 in a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets Nov. 6. Sharp then posted his second career four-assist game, and first since March 14, 2011, in a 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars Nov. 9. He capped the week by assisting on Duncan Keith’s game-winning goal in a 5-4 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers Nov. 10. The 31-year-old veteran of 613 NHL games has 4-12—16 in 18 contests this season, tied for first on the Blackhawks in assists and second in points.
