You'd think by now we'd have found every type of cuisine imaginable in the world in every last corner of Manhattan...! We are excited to tell you about a new kind of cuisine-new to us, that is. It's Druze, and it's by Gazala; we hope to meet her sometime.
Gazala’s Chef and Owner, Gazala Halabi, was born and raised in Daliat el-Carmel, a small Druze village of 15,000 in northern Israel. She first came to New York City in 2001; a bold move for a young woman of her tradition-centered culture. Your stomach will be delighted at her pioneering culinary ways starting with the pastry of spinach and cheese which was a lovely start.
Green salads are high on our list, and this one was unique in that every component was nicely diced up forming a stunning composition of nutrition that is nicely highlighted by lemon. Introducing the
Gazala Salad! It's composed of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, scallion, olive oil, and lemon juice and you'll love the freshness and tangy sensations.
We are totally against smoking in all forms, but have found a Cigar to love-an edible cigar that is. We tried the P
otato Cigar-which contains no nicotine and is a terrific rolled pita stuffed with mashed potatoes, curry, spices, with tahini. It's fantastic to try so many new components and these will delight you as well.
Without a doubt the item we liked most by Gazala is the
Chicken Kebab. It's nicely spiced white meat chicken that's flame broiled and served with rice and salad. A simple concept done expertly - Galaza's Place is Terrific Takeout!
