READ THIS: MISTRESS by James Patterson and David Ellis Our Coverage Sponsored by Paul Mayer Attitudes

Paul Mayer's luxuriously, comfortable designs keep women coming back for multiple -- even dozens -- of pairs. Classic, yet contemporary and always comfortable, his shoes are an addiction that we highly recommend. A staple of the Paul Mayer collection is the simple ballet-flat, with true ballerina construction for a perfect fit that comes in a variety of colors and materials. A cult favorite is the cozy, a flat with lavender-scent infused soles adding style and fragrance to collector's closets as Paul's designs emerge in sophisticated design incarnations season after season in the most incredible hues, textures and modern innovations in luxury footwear because we know firsthand how incredibly brilliant he is. Mayer founded the brand in 2004 with partner, Jeff Levy. All shoes in the line are manufactured in Spain’s Valencia region, along the Mediterranean coast by a skilled staff of 12 artisans. They craft each pair of shoes with an old-world attention to detail that includes in-house embroidery, quilting and stitching as well as custom tanned leather. This allows the brand to cater to each retailer’s specific demands in with timely and consistent alacrity, with orders completed in an unheard-of 3 to 5 weeks. In 2011, Paul Mayer stepped out into Manhattan's Upper East Side with a new attitude, opening his flagship store at 1388 Third Avenue. The store which cleverly resembles a pink and black shoebox offers up to 150 shoe styles, including his popular ballerinas, exclusive designs and more. As an added bonus, shoppers have the chance of running into the designer, himself. Paul's sage shopping advice and style eye has made him the New York shoe lover's best kept secret. When not in New York, Paul can be found traveling to his myriad of stores across the country meeting his loyal clientele or vacationing in his favorite spot, the Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki Beach.

Everyone in their life has felt obsession: becoming so completely consumed with something that it tears your mind apart. Whether it is for a person, a drug, a food, a sport, a lifestyle or so forth-all of these can generate an obsession. However when it is for a person, the emotion you feel can dominate every part of your life. Patterson really dives into this emotion in his fiction novel, “Mistress.” Patterson does an outstanding job of creating intense passion in his main character Ben. Can you imagine becoming so obsessed with someone that you could never have and then finding out they died and your obsession grows even deeper? Following him through twists and turns to get down to the bottom of Diana’s life and death puts him in precarious situations that keep you reading and reading. Love the witty and outrageous statements Ben makes throughout the book drawing your into his madness. Overall, I truly enjoyed this stand alone novel.

James Patterson is a master of the thriller genre, and his latest stand-alone thriller, Mistress, co-written with David Ellis, is yet another winner. This creepy, fast-paced page turner will have your heart thumping and your mind racing from the get-go. Benjamin Casper, editor of the online publication The Capital Beat, is the victim of an obsessive personality - he recites presidential triva, has an encyclopedic knowledge of films, and has an infatuation with Diana Hotchkiss, a beautiful woman with whom he is very friendly, but who is also out of his league, romantically. Diana's body is seen falling from her balcony and hitting the pavement hard by Ben and a number of other witnesses. The death is ruled a suicide, but that doesn't sit right with Ben, who can't reconcile a suicide with the vivacious Diana he knows. When he looks at crime scene photos and notices a missing tattoo on above her ankle, he is even more convinced that there is more to this "suicide" than meets the eye. However, his investigation quickly takes a dangerous turn as he finds himself and those around him being chased, shot at, and threatened. A law enforcement friend of Ben's is killed during the investigation and numerous attempts are made on Ben's own life as he tries to uncover the truth. He finds himself living the life of an outlaw, constantly on the run and trying to stay one step ahead of his pursuers as he digs deeper and deeper into the secret, disturbing life of Diana Hotchkiss. Filled with intrigue, suspense, and excitement, Mistress is a must-read for any fan of the thriller genre. Highly recommended!

This is not a sexpose, never fear. In this latest James Patterson collaboration with David Ellis, we get an intrigue with subplots. That might just be the definition of any thriller mystery novel, but we are after all talking about James Patterson here. Little Brown, his publisher, gifts us with this most intriguing of intrigues. A young lady falls at your feet, quite literally, and you, her admirer and friend, struggle for the answer as you are suspected and hunted for the reason. She's dead, laying there on the sidewalk and you're caught in a web of unbelievable twists that keep us, the readers, wanting answers as we speed read this book. As with all Mr. Cameron's books, it's impossible to put down, so make some time in a hectic schedule to dedicate to this one. Written in a young, hip, straightforward manner, we can hear the thought process of the "hero". He and his chronic ADD caroom through the maze of whys and pull us through the vortex with crisp, clear vision. We arrive at the conclusion with some other riddles solved as well, that brings things to a therapeutic finish. Not a word is wasted, not a thought tossed recklessly. Cameron and his collaborators are intense in their thinking, and produce winning combinations of plot, twist, thrill, and resolution, every time. Did I mention the spies?
