Even the water is amazing and from Italy.  About a year ago, we first featured Cafe Grind:
Located on Tenth avenue between 36th and 37th streets, it is the closest oasis you will find near the Javits Center.  If you know Manhattan, this neighborhood is not nearly Madison or Fifth Avenues and it is terribly exciting to find a spot as clean as this and as committed to high quality products.  We walked by one day and discovered it, and called them up.
There are a lot of cafes in New York and many of them are of a lesser quality franchise variety, but Cafe Grind is in a class by itself.  Everything is fresh and of an artisan nature; the sandwiches are not merely sandwiches and the salads are not merely salads, rather, they are bespoke creations.  We tried the Kale Salad which has some fantastic mango and grape accents and along with walnuts and a coarse sea salt, dances delightfully in a citrus vinaigrette.   Peachy picked out the Kale Salad.

Cafe Grind suggested we try the cucumber salad, the chickpea salad (marinated chickpeas, scallions, grape tomatoes and roasted red peppers), and the Italian bowtie EVOO salad with basil and olives.  All were excellent and fresh.
This time of year especially soup is a big plus and the Tuscan Chicken Meatball soup absolutely hits the spot, which Cafe Grind suggested we try and we loved it.  Anyone out in the current snowstorm would be wise to pop in and order this!  Tomato Mozzarella with chicken with Whole Wheat Focaccia and also the Tomato Mozzarella alone were simply smashing and terribly flavorful and again, fresh which is key at a cafe.  New incarnations of paninis are always being invented at Cafe Grind.
Last but certainly not least, if you have been to the Javits Center before for trade shows, you have a sincere appreciation for a glass of wine at the conclusion (and for some of these shows, perhaps even at the beginning!), and there is not a bar in sight at trade shows for the most part, and if there is, it is not usually well-stocked.  Have no fear, because Cafe Grind has pulled out all the stops for you and they have a liquor license that they use intelligently to source great Italian wine, among other choices.  Yes, Cafe Grind has a full liquor license which means also that you can also have real Irish coffee and there's even a real Irishman in residence to serve it to you.
There's only one place to go for haute couture bespoke sandwiches just the way you like them: Cafe Grind which is Terrific Takeout and is already three years old.   As this part of town grows we can only imagine it will become more popular!  There's going to be that subway stop that Mayor Bloomberg said would open this summer nearby...Cafe Grind is Peachy's favorite spot closest to the Javits Center!

Cafe Grind also seeks out quality local, artisan brands to include in their amazing cafe.
