The New York Landmarks Conservancy Presents: Tourist In Your Own Town - Celebrating National Parks Week

In celebration of National Parks Week we take a look at two national treasures, Ellis Island and Federal Hall.

Ellis Island is one of the country’s most popular National Parks, with nearly two million visitors each year. Over 12 million immigrants passed through this island when it was an active Immigration Station from 1892 to 1954.

In the video we explore the closed-to-the-public South Side of the Island. It was home to the largest hospital complex of its day. These buildings played a crucial role in treating sick immigrants so they could go on to a new life in America.
