The Peachy Deegan cocktail is shaken, not stirred, but the way to imbibe your movie this weekend is clearly BLENDED.  The third stellar pairing of Drew Barrymore as Lauren and Adam Sandler as Jim (they also did The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates ensemble!) will leave you in absolute stitches even if you go into the theater with your biggest black cloud over your head.  Their genuine fearless comedic talents and chemistry with each other carries this movie!  The movie opens with Jim's suave idea of bringing Lauren to Hooters for their first date.  How utterly charming of him.  And to everyone's horror, they find themselves, surprise surprise, on the same family vacation in Africa.

"I think Adam and I have always been in sync and really bring out the best in each other," Barrymore says.  "I love working with him.  We're constantly thinking about how to make our characters more personal and genuine and there's a lot of care that goes into it, but at the same time we can let go and be silly and free together."
As both Lauren and Jim rise to the occasion as single parents: Lauren has two boys and Jim has two girls, the interaction between parents and children across families works as perfectly as one could imagine (and of course, this kind of thing only happens in the movies!).  We love Barrymore's interaction with the girls, especially the youngest with Lauren singing "Over the Rainbow", and applaud Sandler's guy time with the boys, particularly the baseball/cricket bit.
We first loved Adam Sandler when he made a visit to Boston College when Peachy was a student...Sandler's awesome performance in Conte Forum was awhile ago now!  Mover and Shaker Garo Nazarian, our star dentist remembers it was sophomore year and he was a lucky duck to be in the front row.  (If you have teeth, Garo's your guy!)  We have not met Drew Barrymore (yet!) but Drew since we hear you are a culinary enthusiast, we hope you enjoy our reviews.  We would be so psyched to bring you on one.
We love Lauren and Jen's (played by Wendi McLendon-Covey) business endeavor: organizing closets!  We also love Lauren's calendar board; we need to aspire to that.
This film was filmed mostly on location in South Africa so you'll see some great animals and vibrant scenery.  The sunrise in particular is gorgeous, and we loved the hippos, rhinos and elephants galore.

Brand name product placement excelled here too we noticed from Dick's Sporting Goods (yes that coworker is played by Shaq!) to the white minivan driven by many which we are almost positive is a Chrysler, maybe Town and Country? And did we see Connecticut plates on it?  The repetition of it will make you remember better than us if you are into minivans (we are not...).  Jim is so sports-mad he's named his middle daughter Espn, as in ESPN...When ESPN started in 1979 they were the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (thus, ESPN).  Up with Bristol, Connecticut!
This is the kind of movie that when you're still laughing from the last line you heard, you'll hear another killer line and could quite possible choke on your popcorn, so be careful.  It's that funny.  Clearly this will be among the best feel-good movies of the summer, and that's why we want to go to the movies.
And, you'll see some shimmy, shimmy, SHIMMY!

Everyone will be joining in on the shoulder action, and Jessica Lowe and Kevin Nealon made a perfectly hilarious couple complimenting Barrymore and Sandler.  Her shimmy was so good we envision poor Jessica getting that greeting motion from everyone that meets her for the rest of her life!

Bella Thorne as Hilary, Jim's oldest daughter, does a good job with her character development and was well-matched with Zak Henri, as Jake.  The brooding teenagers find solace in each other!
Pay attention to the ostrich scene and appreciate that those birds were actually computer-generated!
As much as we loved Barrymore and Sandler in this flick and everyone surrounding them, Terry Crews without a doubt was the piece de resistance in Blended.  His singing ability combined with his complete hilarity in word choice in songs right down to choreographed chest movements in sync with them had us nearly rolling on the floor (probably unacceptable behavior as a critic, just like at professional sports games you're not supposed to cheer in the press box.) But Terry you should know if we were home watching this on our clean floor we would have been rolling on it and you'd think Peachy was a hyena as a result of your talents.  Terry let us know if you want your book reviewed!
And two thumbs up to Drew who did the parasailing herself!
You go, stunt girl!

The perfect movie to watch this weekend to leave you laughing with joy is without a doubt Blended.
Blended is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!

Go see Godzilla too if you haven't yet!
After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and Jim (Adam Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.

“Blended” marks the third collaboration between stars Sandler and Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates.”

The film also stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Bridesmaids”) as Lauren’s best friend, Jen, and Joel McHale (TV’s “Community”) as her unreliable ex-husband, Mark. Kevin Nealon (“Weeds”) and Jessica Lowe (funnyordie’s “RobotDown”) star as Eddy ad Ginger, an overly romantic couple who are also vacationing at the resort, and Terry Crews (“The Expendables 2”) stars as the resort’s singing host. Dan Patrick (ESPN SportsCenter) appears as Jim’s boss, Dick; and Shaquille O’Neal as his coworker, Doug.Playing Jim’s three daughters are Bella Thorne (Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up”), Emma Fuhrmann and Alyvia Alyn Lind. Kyle Red Silverstein and Braxton Beckham appear as Lauren’s two sons.

“Blended” was directed by Frank Coraci, who previously collaborated with Sandler and Barrymore on “The Wedding Singer” and also directed Sandler in the hit comedies “The Waterboy” and “Click.” The screenplay is by Ivan Menchell & Clare Sera. The film was produced by Mike Karz, Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo, with Barry Bernardi, Josie Rosen, Tim Herlihy, Allen Covert and Steven Koren serving as executive producers.Collaborating with Coraci behind the scenes were director of photography Julio Macat (“Pitch Perfect”), production designer Perry Andelin Blake (“The Wedding Singer,” “Here Comes the Boom”), editor Tom Costain (“Grown Ups”) and costume designer Christine Wada (“Bridesmaids”). The music was composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams.

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents a Gulfstream Pictures Production, a Happy Madison Production, a Frank Coraci Movie, “Blended.” It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

This film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for crude and sexual content, and language.
