The absolute freshest burger we've ever had is without a doubt Ollie's Trolley in Washington, D.C., and we mean freshest anywhere, not just in this city.  Stay tuned, we've got the video to prove it.  Owner Boris Galitzin takes tremendous pride in his institution of American casual cuisine, and not only are the burgers phenomenal but this venue has got a story to match.  We understand that once upon a time, there was an Ollie's Trolley on Collins Avenue in North Miami in the 1930's, and in the early 1970's Boris's aunt and uncle brought this idea to Washington, D.C.  Since 1989, Ollie's Trolley has been located on 425 12th Street NW.
As soon as we arrived, Boris the owner was delighted to greet us and spread the burger cheer.  Some owners give us surface stories, but not Boris.  He's genuine and the real deal.  We got the tour of the kitchen and the whole story.  85% of the sales at Ollie's Trolley is hamburgers/cheeseburgers and you would be totally depriving yourself if you didn't have at least one in Washington.  In 1993, Boris started here as a manager and in 2007, he bought Ollie's Trolley from his aunt and uncle.  You'll note he's got quite the antique collection too, but more on that later.  You need to hear about the burgers first.

All burgers are Fresh Farm Raised 100% using all natural Black Angus Beef.  They work with Roseda Farm, where we understand the cows are fed only grass and grains, and Ollie's Trolley uses a butcher in Baltimore, Old Line Custom Meat Company.  The meat is dry-aged for 14 days.  Though Ollie's Trolley may look casual, nothing going on behind the scenes is at all (applause from Peachy).  Boris is super-intense about his burger vocation and if you enjoy eating them, you will have immense appreciation for his devotion.  Welcome to the art and science of burgers! And we hope no one ever makes the mistake of calling our founder Peachy Vegan again after reading this carnivorous tribute.
The meat is 80% chuck and 20% brisket.
They grind it fresh.
See for yourself!

The verdict:
Exemplary.
You will never want to eat an old, non-fresh burger at a lesser place again now that you understand the difference that care and attention to detail make.  Not to mention commitment to excellence.
No one says where's the beef here!~!!!
This is officially called the Ollie Burger and is 5oz.  We wanted lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, green pepper and provolone cheese.  We love ordering bespoke!  This is one of those times when you'll wish your computer screen was scratch and sniff, and lucky you if you find yourself in Washington right now because it's accessible to you.  We find this to be better than burgers in Manhattan, and we've eaten an awful lot of them to know.
This cheeseburger was a total masterpiece.  Every component, and especially that black angus beef, was divine and fresh.  It silenced Peachy who was super enthused to engage the burger after learning so much about it especially.  It exceeded her expectations.
We had ours medium, but you can have yours as you wish.
Did you know the invisible angel of nutrition named Bloomberg travels with Peachy?  Sitting on her shoulder, Bloomberg smiled as Peachy also ate a green salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and mushrooms.  They listened and put the dressing on the side, and it was fresh and balanced out our devilish calories nicely.
Also immensely popular at Ollie's Trolley is the Hickory Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, which is incredibly flavorful.
Do schedule your workout the day before you visit Ollie's Trolley, because the fries are amazing and absolutely addictive.  The spices are in the proper proportion and they highlight these prize potatoes properly and add just enough of a kick without being overpowering.
What we liked best aside from the burger was the Corned Beef sandwich, which knocked us out in a great way.  It's just as good as the delis of New York (we can't find any good delis in Washington so far.)
The meat is succulent!  Hot corned beef teams up with sauerkraut, thousand island sauce, and swiss cheese to have a party on rye bread which is perfectly toasted.
Absolutely delicious!
Finally, you can't pass go and collect $200 without trying Ollie's Old Fashioned Milk Shakes.  And everything in life is better chocolate!  Rich, thick and creamy, this milk shake absolutely hit the spot and was the right companion for your meal.
Note that they are open at 8am for breakfast...so we will have to check that out too!
But oh my goodness, will we be able to eat our dinner that day?
