Meet NYPD Red—the task force attacking the most extreme crimes in America's most extreme city...
As a collaborator, James Patterson works even more magic than he does on his own as a best-selling author. High on the list of must-reads, any book published by Little, Brown with the James Patterson stamp is sure to be a page-turning thrill ride. In NYPD RED 2, Mr. Patterson and Marshall Karp concoct a symbiotic run for the money suspense thriller that involves corners of New York City you may not have ever seen. With a serial murderer on the loose, and the back story of how and why it is happening, the team of Patterson and Karp bring to bear political strategy, urban sprawl, and crime from the inside out. The elite RED squad of police officers are dealt a hand that must resolve itself within the week. Lots of time for a criminal team, but for the police, even with superior rank involved, a week seems like the impossible dream. Forging through a miasma of possibilities, clues, and traffic, our intrepid duo, Kellie MacDonald and Zack Jordan are our new heroes. In the mix runs relationship psychology, profiling, and day to day precinct sub-plots that rule in vigilante behavior and rule out definitions of good/bad as we know them. You’ll feel the speed of the car racing through the streets of Manhattan, and the neighborhoods flashing by will seem all the more familiar in this converse analytical thriller. For lovers of the genre, and fans of Mr. Patterson, here’s a gold star to this collaborative work with Mr. Karp. Long may they work together.
I am one of those people that love thrillers. I find that lots of authors can scare you and get into your head with creepy plots. What James Patterson does is so much more than that. In his newest novel, “NYPD RED 2” Patterson has created a series that will surely get the attention of millions of readers, plus a movie deal for sure. Who doesn’t love reading about high-profile victims brutally slaughtered for the world to see? There is so much thought and reasons leading up to murdering a victim of this class. I love Patterson’s way of really creating lead characters that you actually care about with interesting backgrounds and relationships that play into how they work a murder investigation. It gets even more complicated and intricate in the details when it is a serial killer. Both Detective Zach Jordan and his partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald have such a rich past of emotions toward each other that you are immediately captivated by how they can continue in a work only relationship. Follow them through this realistic plot that will put a new serial killer on the map!
Walk into any bookstore, and you're sure to find a dedicated James Patterson section. One of the most popular and prolific authors ever, Mr. Patterson has a remarkable talent for keeping readers on the edge of their seats, and thirsting for more after they've finished one of his books. One of his newer series, NYPD Red, focuses on a special task force within the NYPD charged with protecting the interests of the rich, famous, and powerful in New York City. The second book in the series, NYPD Red 2, written with Marshall Karp, is yet another masterpiece from the master of the crime thriller. Detective Zach Jordan and his partner, Kylie MacDonald, are two of the top detectives in the Red unit, and they know they have their work cut out for them when they are called into a bizarre and grotesque crime scene. In the heart of Central Park, the corpse of a woman, tied up and dressed in a hazmat suit, is found riding around on the carousel, just before dawn. This is the fourth in a series of similar crimes (each of the three previous three victims had also been tied up and dressed in a hazmat suit), but the first in which a high-ranking member of society was murdered, which is why Jordan and MacDonald were called in. They're tasked with finding the killer before another victim can appear, and extra pressure is added by the mayor of the city, who insists that they find the killer before the next week's election, or else his career will be down the tubes. Complicating matters even further is the fact that Jordan had fallen in love with MacDonald while they were both at the academy, years ago, and although they've both moved on (she's married and he is in a relationship), it's hard for Jordan to push those old feelings aside and be strictly professional, especially when problems from MacDonald's marriage start spilling over into their work. Captivating and intense from page 1, NYPD Red 2is also full of twists and turns that will keep readers enthralled to the end. Highly recommended!
