A Cli-Fi phenomenon, Into the Storm is a brilliant flick that will make its debut tomorrow, August 8, 2014 that has effects that made even Peachy Deegan sit up much straighter in her seat and an enticing storyline to match. She was affected! Though this summer has not been marked by blockbusters in the movie industry, we feel confident that this could be the sleeper hit of the summer! We've never seen special effects that mimic weather before, and feel that when they are executed this well, the audience that they'd appeal to would be far wider. Into the Storm is definitely a movie you want to see in a theater over your home because if the immensely incredible special effects. Let's be honest, you wouldn't want to actually be in the middle of a storm yourself, however, your curiosity will be totally satisfied by being nearly sucked in literally to the story of this Midwest Town in Northern Oklahoma. And, the film will leave you feeling grateful for all that you have in life and in particular the fantastic weather we hope you're having this summer! (It has been beautiful in Manhattan.) Though you may understand it intellectually, the idea of how everything you love in your life could be lost in a split second becomes even more emotionally evident through experiencing Into the Storm, as the lives of the characters change dramatically in only a few hours.
We've never seen a Titus before, and chances are you haven't either. The Titus with its bulletproof Lexan windows, 4mm solid steel armor plating, a 12-ton capacity winch and more is a sight to behold, but will this all-weather vehicle similar to a tank be able to outmaneuver this storm? In the script, we like how the tale of a documentary film maker, Pete played by Matt Walsh (who even has a podcast analyzing the Chicago Bears), is told from his perspective, and perhaps this will give you an even greater appreciation for the documentaries we have been commenting on by HBO and BBC Home Entertainment: a lot of work can go into a single shot, and possibly a lot of sacrifice too.
Tornadoes in movies, particularly in the Midwest, evoke memories of Dorothy landing up in Oz, but for all the Totos out there, know that in Into the Storm, you aren't in Kansas anymore. This movie is fresh and fascinating. And the Tornadoes could be the biggest stars of the show, and note how that noun is plural! We also liked the score which was not dominant but definitely relevant and appropriate during the film, bringing forth emotion at key moments.
We like how Into the Storm was marked with casting of actors we were unfamiliar with, and were super impressed by Alycia Debnam-Carey, the high school "cool girl" who really exhibits grace under pressure. She has fantastic chemistry with Max Deacon, who plays Donnie.
The character development between the father, Gary (played by Richard Armitage) and his two sons Donnie and Trey (played by Nathan Kress) we found to be most touching, and Trey had us in hysterics at moments!
Arlen Escarpeta, Jeremy Sumpter, Lee Whitaker and Sarah Wayne Callies round out Pete's devoted team with clutch performances. After 16,000 or so posts on Whom You Know, we are on the jaded side and it is a complete delight to find a film so refreshing.
Moments in this film will rock you literally, and know that this is not real: it's fiction. Destruction like this caused by Mother Nature is are also a bit of relief when you consider it's not terrorism-in Manhattan we have a unique perspective having experienced 9/11 up close and personal, like it was a movie set.
Everyone in the Titus! Into the Storm should be your priority this weekend. Hats off to everyone in production from Executive Producers to those that crafted the incredible sets-they are stunning. And finally, Mover and Shaker Lonnie Quinn, this is an absolute must-see for you in particular.
Do not fear, chaos is not the entire film. Donk (Kyle Davis) and Reevis (Jon Reep) provide plenty of comic relief! If they don't make you laugh, check your pulse!

From New Line Cinema, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, comes the action-packed disaster thriller “Into the Storm.” The film was directed by Steven Quale (“Final Destination 5”), and produced by Todd Garner (“Zookeeper,” “Knight and Day”).
In the span of just a few hours, the city of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of the most furious twisters they’ve ever seen. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run toward the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.
Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm” throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.

Sandefur, editor Eric Sears and composer Brian Tyler, as well as costume designer Kimberly Adams (associate costume designer the “Chronicles of Narnia” films).
New Line Cinema presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Broken Road production, “Into the Storm.” The film, opening August 8, 2014, will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
The film has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sequences of intense destruction and peril, and language including some sexual references.
