Last month's Mystery Landmark winner was Alison LaFever who correctly guessed the Monument to the Maryland 400 located within Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
The monument is dedicated to the memory of the brave Maryland soldiers who held back the British to allow George Washington's forces to escape during the Battle of Long Island on August 27, 1776.
One side of the monument reads...
"GOOD GOD! WHAT BRAVE FELLOWS
I MUST THIS DAY LOSE."
- GEORGE WASHINGTON
The column was designed by noted architect Stanford White.
