The New York Landmarks Conservancy: Celebrating New York City Parks

To better appreciate the amazing architectural legacy that surrounds us in New York, the Landmarks Conservancy highlights a different architectural function, type, or style each month. So in August, as we enjoy the “dog days” of summer,” we’ll celebrate the City’s rich abundance of public parks.

They come in many shapes and sizes. Through Facebook and Twitter posts, our Tourist In Your Own Town video series, and Mystery Landmark competition we’ll explore some of the City’s spectacular parklands.

The Conservancy staff has developed a list of our most beloved parks … vote for your favorite or submit your own suggestion and we’ll post the results next week!

Vote for your favorite park - take our survey.

To find out more, visit the City Department of Parks & Recreation at www.nycgovparks.org … the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation at http://nysparks.com … and the U.S. National Park Service at www.nps.gov.

The Historic House Trust works in tandem with the Department of Parks & Recreation to preserve its collection of 23 historic houses located within City parks. Their website too has a wealth of information at www.historichousetrust.org
