Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier entertainment and music memorabilia auction house, has announced The Collection of Ann and Nancy Wilson of the mega-rock group Heart auction event featuring custom made stage costumes and personal items to take place on November 7 and 8, 2014 at Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills. The award-winning collection includes a vast amount of custom made costumes and stage worn clothing, personal items and professional awards from the careers of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.

Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide, has had twenty Top 40 singles, seven “Top 10” albums and four GRAMMY Award nominations. The band has had “Top 10” albums on the Billboard charts over a series of decades beginning in the 1970’s and through 2010. Ann and Nancy Wilson’s career spans over four decades making them the premiere female fronted rock band holding the record for the longest time span anywhere in the universe. In 2013, Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ann and Nancy Wilson set the stage for all female rockers when they first formed the band in 1974. They first showed the world that women could rock when the band “Heart” stormed the charts in the 70’s with hits like “Crazy On You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” and “Straight On.” The sister duo were the first female rockers to lead a band, write their own songs and play their own instruments — a true “triple-threat” in the world of rock n’ roll. Heart continued to top the charts through the 80’s and 90’s with mega-hits like “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” “These Dreams,” “Alone” and the all-time rock classic “What About Love.” Ann’s lead vocals combined with Nancy’s outrageous riffs on lead guitar make Heart one of the most successful rock bands of the century.

Highlights from the Collection of Ann and Nancy Wilson include incredible stage worn costumes and clothing worn throughout their career. Custom made costumes dating from the 1970s include bohemian styles, 1980s metal chic style and fashions from the present day. Many pieces were worn on album covers, on stage, in music videos, and in publicity images and are part of American rock n’ roll history.

Other highlights include an extraordinary Ovation 12-string acoustic guitar, model number 16182, with red finish, played by Nancy Wilson while on tour circa 1985. Costume highlights from Ann Wilson include custom made costumes by Carole McClellan including a dress with Austrian crystal embellishments (circa 1977) which was worn by Ann Wilson on stage and in “Circus” magazine in 1978, a 1970’s Asian inspired embroidered silk top with trousers that was worn on stage and in publicity images, a pant ensemble worn on the 1980 album cover of Heart Greatest Hits Live, a hand painted silk jacket circa 1982 worn by Wilson on stage, in two magazines, in the “City’s Burning” music video, and on the Strange Euphoria box set, and a Moschino trench coat with trompe de l’oeil iridescent sequins worn on the 1986 tour program, on the “If Looks Could Kill/ What He Don’t Know” 7 inch single and in the music video for “These Dreams."

Also highlighted is Nancy Wilson’s black and white satin stage ensemble featured in the November 1980 issue of Hit Parade magazine, a tuxedo jacket worn on the back cover of the 1983 album Private Audition, a pink lace halter bodice worn in the “These Dreams” music video and in the 1986 Heart World tour program, a black military inspired heavily embellished stage jacket circa mid 1980s and seen in the music video for “Stranded,” and a violet silk peignoir worn in the music video for “Nothing at All."

Partial proceeds of the auction will go to benefit The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and MusiCares™. The CCFA is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D. Since CCFA’s founding over four decades ago, it has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. In addition, CCFA’s educational workshops and programs, along with their scientific journal, “Inflammatory Bowel Diseases,” enable medical professionals to keep pace with the rapidly growing field. The National Institutes of Health has commended the CCFA for “uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research.” For more information, go to www.ccfa.org.
