Located in the East Village, North River is owned by Colby Zito, who remembers us from when we visited Maialino.  Colby has got a better memory than Peachy!  At this stage we have visited well over 300 restaurants in Manhattan and have published on fewer than we've visited, but alas we did not see Colby on this inaugural visit to North River, so perhaps another time Colby.  We did enjoy meeting the charismatic Chelsea. Peachy ordered the Pork Ribs appetizer, and the meat was delicious and our favorite component of this review.  It's served with apple slaw and at the size of two ribs, it's small and sweet.
For our green salad option, we ordered the Grilled Romaine Hearts, served with white anchovy, caper and dill.  It was highly artistic and presented thoughtfully.  The egg was a plus.
Look at this color!  For our entree we selected Arctic Char in Spicy Broth, and the fresh fish was further enhanced by shiitake and shishito peppers.  Again, a lovely presentation.  We think the fish would have been just as good accessorized less.

For our pasta course, we chose the crab ravioli.  That filling in pasta is a laudable filling and we love crab.  At North River, the Crab Ravioli dances in daikon, tomato and ginger.
North River is Terrific Takeout!
