Ooooh la la it is an exciting day at Whom You Know when we discover a new French restaurant-so Peachy Deegan can practice the six years of studying she did in school and try the lovely cuisine!  We wish we could find a great French restaurant in Washington, D.C. but so far we are stuck (and stay tuned for some upcoming winners and the hit parades already established by Billy Martin and Ashok's Knightsbridge Restaurant Group...).  The newest French restaurant we've tried and liked in Manhattan is Frere de Lys by brothers (Freres means brothers in French bien sur!) Thibaut (the host) and Alexis (the chef) Piettre.
This is how committed they are:
Frere de Lys opened on May 30, 2014, and these guys are imported from France.
For our salad option, we chose the Shrimp Caesar Salad, which comes with the dressing on it.  We love shrimp and these did not disappoint and were the perfect highlight to the salad along with the fresh anchovies which were equally delectable.  Crisp romaine and croutons also came to this party.
As an appetizer we tried the Smoked Eggplant Gratin.  It dances in a delicious ricotta and home-made tomato sauce and the portion sizes here ensure that American women won't get fat either. (click the link to understand us, silly)
Our favorite part of dinner was the entree: Roasted Dijon Salmon wrapped in zucchini and radish salad.
We commend the freshness of the fish, the beautiful arrangement complete with gorgeous thin slices of zucchini, plus you know who adores potatoes.

Frere de Lys is Terrific Takeout!

Their dad was visiting from France when we went to the restaurant for the first time; he's a very nice guy to chat with:
