At Vino 2015 with the Italian Trade Commission at The Waldorf=Astoria, Torre Fornello Diacondo Gerardo 1028 is the Best in Show Says Whom You Know
Previously on Whom You Know, we published:
THE ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION ANNOUNCES THE NAMES OF THE RECIPIENTS & HONOREES OF THE “WINES OF ITALY HALL OF FAME”
Thank you to the Italian Trade Commission for including us in Vino 2015.
We were delighted to attend VINO 2015, and after perusing table after table, from the wines we tried, the wine we liked best was the Torre Fornello Diacondo Gerardo 1028. This brand is owned by Enrico Sgorbati, pictured above. It was planted in 1977 and is a blend of 55% Barbera and 45% Bonarda. This red still was aged 12 months in barrels and barriques and the name comes from the discovery of a document dated 1028 outlining the details of the Diacono Gerardo will concerning Fornello lands.
Of course, it would have been impossible to try them all! Maybe next time...
VINO was created in 2009 by the Italian Trade Commission to bring together all the different interests within the Italian wine business, to raise greater awareness for Italy’s range of wines and their marketing potential, to foster business relationships between Italian wine producers and buyers in the U.S. and to address trends and transitions in the wine business. More than 2000 wine industry professionals are expected to attend VINO 2015.
