Papayiannides Strawberry Chocolate Jam by The Mediterranean Way Recommended by the Culinary Enthusiasts of Whom You Know
Strawberry and chocolate… one of my favorite pairings! It made my day to find a strawberry chocolate Jam. I tried it on toast for a special, Sunday-treat breakfast, and then again on some pound cake at dessert. This jam is so delicious, it will taste great with anything – fruit, yogurt, bread, cake – you name it! If you like strawberries and chocolate (and, let’s face it, who doesn’t?), you’ve got to give this a try.
This strawberry & chocolate jam is so smooth and totally satisfying. You do not need a gourmet dessert to start with to add this to your menu. It is superb just as a jam spread on your favorite toast or bagel. It is made on the small island of Lesvos, Greece. The secret to its success is the 19th century original family recipe!
The Mediterranean Way adds a note on their website in the description of this jam underlining its uniqueness. The family that makes the jams for The Mediterranean Way are using forgotten flavors recipes, dating as far back as 1895. The Papayiannides family takes a particular pride in their product, using ingredients from their own farm. The berries in this unique and flavorful jam are grown in Greece, and blended with tantalizing chocolate for your ultimate indulgence. Serve this jam at breakfast, brunch or as a dessert. Try building its flavor by dipping fresh strawberries into it, and savor the delight of this Greek hit.
Store owners and husband and wife team, Niko & Oana have brought their Mediterranean experience and passion of living in Tuscany and Greece back to Washington, DC and into their store.
By partnering with respected independent, and organic producers that they personally met, visited and dealt with while living abroad, they can now offer unique artisan products to their customers in Washington, DC and beyond.
After moving to the U.S. in 2011, owners Niko & Oana realized that even though Washington, DC was an international city with well-traveled people from all over the world living in the city, there was not a store offering authentic, high-quality Mediterranean products in the city. Realizing this void, the idea from The Mediterranean Way was born and put into motion.
Since opening the store in 2013, the store has been frequented by many top Mediterranean chefs in DC including celebrity chef Jose Andres and was listed by Washington Post Food editor Joe Yonan as one of his favorite new food stores in Washington, DC. The Mediterranean Way has shipped its unique products to over thirty states in the U.S. and to five countries.
Oana is a certified nutritional consultant and helps customers by offering advice based on their personal nutritional needs and goals.
