Khiry Shelton Nominated for MLS Goal of the Week (Week 11)
New York City FC forward Khiry Shelton has been nominated for Major League Soccer Goal of the Week for Week 11.
The rookie scored his first-career goal in the 91st minute as the Club rallied from a two-goal deficit while down a man to salvage a vital point in a 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. Captain David Villa slipped out of trouble with a nifty move near the top of the 18-yard box and fed the ball to Shelton to his left. The second overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft aimed toward the far post with his left-footed effort past a diving Sean Johnson to equalize.
Also nominated for MLS Save of the Week (Week 11) are: Eric Avila (Orlando City SC), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Zach Pfeffer (Philadelphia) and Devon Sandoval (Real Salt Lake).
Voting runs until 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday.
