New York City FC Open 300 Level at Yankee Stadium for Red Bulls Match
New York City FC will open the 300 level at Yankee Stadium for their match against the New York Red Bulls on June 28th. Demand for seats has led to the match being close to selling out of the 27,545 seat capacity normally used for soccer matches.
Tom Glick, President of New York City FC, said:
“The atmosphere at our home games has been fantastic all season. When we were looking at this game on June 28th being on the verge of selling out this far in advance, we made the decision to open up more seats to accommodate the demand. We are pleased with the momentum we have had in tickets sales and that so many New Yorkers continue to get behind our Club in our inaugural season.”
This is the second time that New York City FC have opened additional sections at Yankee Stadium to accommodate demand for tickets. The Club previously opened the full stadium for the home opener in March where attendance surpassed 43,500.
Over 16,000 Founding Members have purchased season tickets, and the average attendance for New York City FC over the first 5 home games has been nearly 28,000. The Club have led the MLS in attendance in 3 game weeks. In Game Week 5, the Club played two home matches (Philadelphia on April 16 and Portland on April 19) and had the first and second highest attendance in the League.
