New York City FC vs. Chicago Fire: Spotlight on Khiry Shelton
Khiry Shelton scored his first-career goal for New York City FC and it couldn't have come at a more ideal time.
Trailing by two goals and limited to 10 men after a red card, the Club fought their way back to earn a vital 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.
Captain David Villa received the ball at the top of the box, somehow split a pair of defenders and dished the ball to Shelton on his left. The second overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft slotted his left-footed attempt into the far corner in the 91st minute to cap the dramatic comeback.
Here is the story of Shelton's day in video, statistics, photos, quotes and more.

Shelton said:
The effort that David and everyone showed tonight was big, the goal was a team effort. It definitely builds confidence, I still have a lot of stuff to work on and I know that going forward it will be big for me.
In the coach's words:
I’ve been in Khiry’s shoes, so I can say this with a lot of clarity and a lot of belief: I think that goal can put him to the next level. I think that’s what he needed. I’m quite certain that’s going to mean a lot for his confidence and that’s what he needs right now because he has got sky-high potential, but he’s still a young player.
