As a city, New York is coming off an exciting Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, and for all that like action, Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing a masterpiece that will wow you with its dynamo effects, highly skilled acting and unmatchable action sequences that will jolt you into the screen. You'll feel like a part of it and this complete escape from reality should be seen in 3D. Charlize Theron was most impressive for her true commitment to the role and to us, she made the movie. Charlize takes on another gutsy role like she did in Monster, and she winningly nails it. (also we have the utmost respect for her in growing out her hair twice in this role.) Mad is an understatement for the chaotic intense frenzy that unwinds with all its claws out.
The first half hour is complete nonstop energy and your body and mind will race.
Mad Max is the story of survival and a fictional celebration of social darwinism. The script travels with alacrity throughout the desert, and our hats off to the costume and prop department, who have imaginations equaled only to their craftsmanship in execution.
Mad Max: Fury Road should be highly popular with the automotive enthusiasts who love hot rods and vehicles of invention. Drag racing becomes a new art form in Mad Max: Fury Road!
There is a decidedly feminist aspect to the escape of Furiosa and company and we love their rebelliousness and independent streak. We did not find their costuming feminist, however it was artful.
Though this is undoubtedly action, action, ACTION! the quiet scenes are the most powerful we feel because of both their contrast and also the intensity of acting executed.
This scene with Furiosa is perhaps the most powerful in our opinion.
The landscape is barren indeed and we started to covet green as much as Furiosa after some time! Though personally we did not love the color scheme, it matched the plot perfectly and the cinematography was absolutely brilliant. The creative team includes Oscar-winning Director of Photography John Seale ("The English Patient", one of our all-time favorites).
Survival and the search for hope permeate the overall themes of this movie, and though words are few they are powerful. If you are an enthusiast of the special effect to the highest degree, this has got your name all over it.
Mad Max: Fury Road opens tomorrow for all high octane viewers!
From director George Miller, originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary “Mad Max” franchise, comes “Mad Max: Fury Road,” a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky.
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) stars in the title role in “Mad Max: Fury Road”—the fourth in the franchise’s history. Oscar winner Charlize Theron (“Monster,” “Prometheus”) stars as the Imperator, Furiosa. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max,” “Sleeping Beauty”) as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones (“Conan the Barbarian”) as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoë Kravitz (“Divergent”) plays Toast, Riley Keough (“Magic Mike”) is Capable, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) is Splendid, and supermodel Abbey Lee is The Dag, and Courtney Eaton is Fragile. Also featured in the movie are Josh Helman as Slit, Jennifer Hagan as Miss Giddy, and singer/songwriter/performer iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior.
The cast is rounded out by well-known Australian actors John Howard and Richard Carter, supermodel Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.
Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller (“Happy Feet”) is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar nominee Doug Mitchell (“Babe”, “Happy Feet”), and P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.
