Special Appearance of the Stanley Cup®
Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Charles M. Schulz Museum
The Stanley Cup®, the most revered trophy in professional sports, will be on display at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Peanuts in the Penalty Box and the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs currently underway. Visitors will have the opportunity to take photos next to the Cup. Regular Museum admission fees apply. This special appearance coincides with the Museum's exhibition,
"Charles Schulz’s lifelong love for hockey was widely known," said Phil Pritchard, curator of the Hockey Hall of Fame and Keeper of the Stanley Cup. "We are thrilled to celebrate his love of the game and bring the Stanley Cup to his museum for both hockey and Peanuts fans to enjoy."
The Stanley Cup® is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America and was donated in 1892 by Sir Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston and son of the Earl of Derby. Since 1910, the trophy has been symbolic of professional hockey supremacy.
The Hockey Hall of Fame is the home of the Stanley Cup® and the original bowl as was presented by Lord Stanley. The Hall employs “keepers” of the Cup, who travel to various locations around the world for charity events and public appearances. When a team wins the Stanley Cup, each player has the opportunity to spend a day with the trophy to celebrate. A Hall of Fame employee travels with the Cup during this time as well.
The National Hockey League is bringing the Stanley Cup®Peanuts in the Penalty Box, which runs April 15 through August 16, 2015, and features 60 original Peanutscomic strips showcasing Schulz’s venerated pastime and specially selected materials from the Zamboni Company archives. Later this summer, the Redwood Empire Ice Arena will host the 40th Annual Snoopy's Senior World Hockey Tournament from July 11-19, 2015. to the Schulz Museum in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition, IMAGES.
ABOUT THE CHARLES M. SCHULZ MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTER
The Charles M. Schulz Museum opened in August 2002 to fulfill its mission of preserving, displaying, and interpreting the art of Charles M. Schulz. The museum carries out this mission through changing exhibitions and programming that: build an understanding of cartoonists and cartoon art; illustrate the scope of Schulz’s multi-faceted career; communicate the stories, inspirations and influences of Charles Schulz; and celebrate the life of Charles Schulz and the Peanuts characters.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum is located 50 minutes north of San Francisco by car on Highway 101. The Museum is located at 2301 Hardies Lane, Santa Rosa, California, 95403.
