Building on the incredible success of American Sniper, Warner Brothers pictures continues to excel at the military theme, and although we've fully acknowledged that Clint Eastwood is GOD (look at what he's doing next with WB and @captsully ), sorry Clint, we were so impressed with MAX that Peachy Deegan did not leave the theater thinking you didn't direct it.  In fact, MAX is so captivating you almost won't miss Bradley Cooper!
To that end, we were super impressed with Director Boaz Yakin (we also loved Uptown Girls), who worked with writer and 4-year Marine Veteran Sheldon Lettich to make the script and execution authentic.  They were so dedicated they went to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base K9 Unit in California before writing.

We always read all of the production notes to give you the best inside scoop.
This was one of the best bios of a cast member we've seen, and we quote:
CARLOS (Max) was born on February 28, 2012 in Hawesville, Kentucky at Liberty Dog Camp.  His father's name was Cache and his mother was Ember.  He has two brothers and three sisters.  As a puppy, although he was very loving and curious, he was also very focused.  It was because of this trait he was named after Carlos Hatchcock, the Vietnam War sniper who had 93 confirmed kills and was known for his incredible concentration.

Even if you think you're not a dog person, you're going to love THIS dog.  And there were four of them-yes, Max had stunt doubles because the film is so dog-intense they were cross-trained and rotated to ensure their health and safety in circumstances of extreme heat and enough exertion.  MAX is super action-packed, and quite literally MAX smells out danger.

We are not dog experts.  We had supposed MAX was a German Shepard however note that he is a Belgian Malinois: a breed that is highly energetic, intelligent and extremely task-oriented.  Those three adjectives alone should tell you we were going to like this movie!
If you have not been a member of the military and certainly Peachy has not, you'll learn to have a greater appreciation for all that these smart dogs do; their smelling ability transcends the language barrier and they keep us safe.  Max survives the war, but he suffers from PTSD.
We were really impressed with the cast collectively and appreciated the character development of each family member as their original family was lost.
The acting was exactly as it should be. This is a straightforward quality movie where you'll appreciate the story and will just follow the dog...
Every aspect of MAX will capture your heart, especially if you love America and your life.  You do not have to be a military person or a dog person to like this but if you are you will really be over the top.  Like San Andreas, MAX hits on major universal themes like love and survival that hopefully everyone can relate to!  There's a rebirth and an awakening through the plot that will win you over in a big way.
In other Whom You Know themes we were elated to see the character Ray Wincott, who plays the father in the family, as a business owner that informs "I don't just run it, I own it."  And we loved the main character little brother Justin's Corvette t-shirt and that it was partly filmed in Gastonia, North Carolina.  We know Gastonia and have been there.

If you're a tween or teenager you'll especially relate to Justin and his friends and the digital age they are growing up in...
A final word, bring your Kleenex.
Can dogs also go to Movie Theaters?  (And if you own a movie theater, tweet if you will allow dogs to https://twitter.com/Manhattanpeachy, we'll retweet you because we think dog owners would enjoy seeing this with their canine pals.)

MAX is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!
See it starting June 26, 2015 in the USA!

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures comes “Max,” a family action adventure from writer/director Boaz Yakin (“Remember the Titans,” “Fresh”).

A precision-trained military dog, Max serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong on maneuvers, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatized by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service.

Sent stateside, the only human he seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin, so Max is saved when he is adopted by Kyle’s family. But Justin has issues of his own, including living up to his father’s expectations, and he isn’t interested in taking responsibility for his brother’s troubled dog. However, Max may be Justin’s only chance to discover what really happened to his brother that day on the front, and with the help of Carmen, a tough-talking young teen who has a way with dogs, Justin begins to appreciate his canine companion.

Justin’s growing trust in Max helps the four-legged veteran revert back to his heroic self, and as the pair race to unravel the mystery, they find more excitement—and danger—than they bargained for. But they each might also find an unlikely new best friend…in each other.

“Max” stars Josh Wiggins (“Hellion”) as Justin Wincott, Lauren Graham (TV’s “Parenthood”) as his mom, Pamela, and Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”) as his dad, Ray.

Yakin directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Sheldon Lettich (“Rambo III,” “Double Impact”). Karen Rosenfelt (“Marley & Me,” the “Twilight” series) and Ken Blancato (“The Book Thief”) produced the film, with Ben Ormand and Yakin serving as executive producers.

Yakin’s behind-the-scenes creative team included director of photography Stefan Czapsky (“Safe”), production designer Kalina Ivanov (“The Vow,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), editor Bill Pankow (“The Untouchables,” “Let’s Be Cops”) and costume designer Ellen Lutter (“Grown Ups,” “50 First Dates). The music is by Trevor Rabin (“Grudge Match,” “Remember the Titans”).

Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures present, a Sunswept Entertainment production, a Boaz Yakin movie, “Max.” Opening June 26, 2015, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company and MGM. It has been rated PG for action violence, peril, brief language and some thematic elements.
