David Villa Nominated for Major League Soccer Goal of the Week for Week 21

New York City FC forward David Villa has been nominated for Major League Soccer Goal of the Week for Week 21.

The Club's captain continued his hot scoring streak, finding the back of the net on two more occasions in Sunday's 5-3 win over Orlando City SC at Yankee Stadium. Villa, who leads New York City FC with 12 goals and ranks third in MLS, has six goals (three braces) in the last four matches.

On the cusp of halftime, left back Angelino served up a pin-point pass from the halfway line to Villa in the Orlando City SC 18-yard box. The former Spain international showcased a soft touch, by trapping the ball with his right foot, shaking defender Sean St. Ledger and firing home the match's first goal to the near post past Tally Hall.

Villa, who was named to MLS Team of the Week along with teammate Kwadwo Poku, is nominated for the MLS Goal of the Week (Week 21) honor along with: Benny Feilhaber (Sporting KC), Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), Cyle Larin (Orlando City SC) and Leonel Miranda (Houston).
