Manhattan was treated to an amazing display of road racing glory on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 downtown in Soho, courtesy of the King of Connecticut Road Racing, Skip Barber, of Lime Rock Park! Our car column, Cruising Peachy, (found under sports, drivables, and other gadgets) is about to put it into high gear. What you need to know is that Lime Rock Park is a fantastic place to visit, and we have been there many, many times long before Whom You Know ever existed. It is a wonderful escape from city life.
If you have never heard of it, you ought to know that the late Paul Newman, whom we were thrilled to meet in person many times there, absolutely loved Lime Rock.
You should too!
It is in Northwest Connecticut, and the race this weekend is just one of many great events they have going on. Yesterday celebrated this race specifically, so we will introduce you to the fantastic people we met.

Lime Rock Park Tells Whom You Know:
The GT Daytona class of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship – racing here at Lime Rock Park July 25 – is a terrific gloves-off, old-school manufacturer battle between four of the biggest names in sports cars: Audi, Ferrari, BMW and Porsche.
Just 16 points separate these four carmakers at the top of the standings.
When the automakers “fight,” we as race fans win. Factory involvement means the best talent, the best engineering and of course, the best drivers.
And that results in tremendous racing for Lime Rock fans.
The drivers leading the Audi effort are Dion von Moltke and Christopher Haase, behind the wheel of the #48 Paul Miller Racing Audi R8 LMS. Audi has 156 points heading into the Lime Rock Northeast Grand Prix, but just 4 points behind is Ferrari, with 152 points. The #63 Ferrari 458 Italia (fielded by Scuderia Corsa) is driven by IndyCar’s Townsend Bell and Westport, Connecticut’s Bill Sweedler.
BMW and Porsche, as usual, are right in the hunt.
Thanks to the always-competitive Turner Motorsport squad’s BMW Z4 and drivers Michael Marsal and Dane Cameron, BMW is only 10 points behind Ferrari. And just 2 points further back is Porsche, at 140. There are a slew of Porsche teams, but heading the charge is Cooper MacNeil and Leh Keen in one of Alex Job Racing’s 911 GT Americas.
When you come to Lime Rock on Saturday, July 25 for the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix, buckle your virtual seatbelts and get ready for a knockdown-drag-out brawl between Audi, Ferrari, BMW and Porsche!
