New York City FC goalkeeper Josh Saunders has been nominated for Major League Soccer Save of the Week for Week 25.
Saunders had five saves in the Club's 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. His fingertip save on Sebastian Lletget in the 26th minute was one of his best.
The Galaxy midfielder received the ball near the halfway line and dribbled to the 18-yard box. Lletget got to the corner of the box, made a cut and floated a ball toward the center of the goal that Saunders tipped over the crossbar for a corner kick.
Saunders, who leads MLS with 88 saves this season, was also nominated for this week's honor along with Stefan Frei (Seattle Sounders), Clint Irwin (Colorado Rapids), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire) and Tim Melia (Sporting KC).
This is the 10th time this season Saunders has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week.
Voting runs until 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday
