The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) has named Lucy Miller of Port Chester, NY as Metro New York grassroots manager. In this post Miller will work to recruit, train, manage and mobilize volunteers around ACS CAN’s federal, state and local campaigns. Previously, Miller served as Relay for Life community manager for the American Cancer Society in New York.

“Our region, state and country are at a turning point on countless health related issues that will deeply affect every one of us,” said Michael Davoli, director of Metro New York government relations for ACS CAN. “The availability of lifesaving cancer screenings to the underinsured, the health threats caused by the use of e-cigarettes and the need for increased funding for tobacco cessation and prevention programs are among the issues that require voices of support from our volunteers. It is crucial that our leaders hear these voices and act to save lives and diminish suffering from cancer. It is exciting to know that Lucy will use her knowledge, talents and temperament to help recruit and organize volunteers to deliver our vital messages.”

“ACS CAN has amazing volunteers,” said Miller. “I am excited about working with them to deliver our life saving policy messages loudly and clearly to our government leaders.”

Lucy Miller is based at the ACS CAN Manhattan office at 132 West 32nd Street. She can be reached at lucy.miller@cancer.org or at (212) 492-8404.
