Life has a way of catching up with you and what goes around, comes around.  This maxim has never been creepier than in The Gift, a highly intelligent work that is absolutely going to make you think.  Jason Bateman steps into a dark role that we don't see him play too often and is absolutely phenomenal as an actor.  He steals the show.

The Gift was incredibly well-cast, and Joel Edgerton does great work throughout wearing many hats; you'll remember he was also in The Great Gatsby, by Warner Brothers.  As Gordo the weirdo, Edgerton has creepy down to a T with the silver hoop earring and his haunting screen presence.  We would recommend you not eat during this movie as your stomach will turn, and we also recommend you watch it in the daytime or you will be thinking about it all night.  But if you like to be scared out of your wits, watch it alone on a quiet night.

Drop ins and stop bys punctuate the script, and it might make you think twice or three times about opening your door, and it will absolutely make you think about upgrading your security system.  People show you who they are...and does time really heal anything?  When we say we love stories in general, we mean truthful ones.

Mr. Bojangles was our favorite character and in terms of stealing, it is the lowest of low to steal someone's pet.  But at least he did not turn out like the fish...what would motivate such behavior?

The darkness that invades this script classifies this as a thriller and possibly a horror flick if you are into your own security.  Lights at the end of the hall?  The music in the movie is stellar and echoes the story perfectly.

The moral of the story?  Be nice!  But also, be cautious.  People do not really change...and always pay attention.

You never know what's going to happen to you when you're shopping for furniture to furnish your new home...

Revenge comes in an artfully wrapped package in The Gift, a chilling psychological thriller available on Blu-ray™, DVD, Digital HD and on Demand October 27, 2015, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The Gift asks the question, “Can you really go through life having never wronged anyone?” Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going as planned until a chance run-in with Simon’s high-school acquaintance sends their world into a narrowing tailspin. At first Simon doesn’t recognize Gordo (Joel Edgerton), but after a series of uninvited encounters and mysterious gifts prove troubling, a horrifying secret from the past is uncovered after more than 20 years. As Robyn learns the unsettling truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she is forced to contemplate: how well we really know those closest to us, and are bygones ever really bygones?
