LENOVO NAMES SCOTT OFFER GENERAL COUNSEL
Lenovo Group today announced a change in senior leadership. Jay Clemens, who has served as General Counsel to the company for approximately four years has chosen to step down for personal reasons. The company has named Scott Offer, currently General Counsel for its Mobile Business Group, to replace Clemens as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Lenovo Group Limited.
Yuanqing Yang, chairman and CEO of Lenovo:
“Jay leaves with our admiration, our support and our gratitude for his contributions to Lenovo. We thank him for his tireless work in supporting our business through some of our largest acquisitions, our rapid growth into new businesses and new markets, and our work in building a true global leader at Lenovo in PC, mobile, enterprise and ecosystem. Jay has built a world class team with a critical strategic role in supporting our business. Jay has definitely left a mark as a great Lenovo leader!
At the same time, we are confident and proud to name Scott Offer as our new General Counsel. Scott joined Lenovo with our acquisition of Motorola Mobility in 2014. Scott brings an incredible record in dealing with complex global legal and compliance issues – especially in the mobile industry – and we are certain that he will continue to ensure Lenovo operates with the highest principles, standards and performance in all of our legal and regulatory endeavors.”
Offer brings more than 20 years of legal experience to this role. He received his law degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is qualified as a lawyer in the United Kingdom and United States. He has been part of the legal team at Motorola since 1990. There he led many key global strategic initiatives, including taking Motorola Mobility public in 2011, leading legal efforts around mergers and acquisitions initiatives (including acquisitions by Google and Lenovo) and driving strategy around a wide range of intellectual property and regulatory issues worldwide.
Offer joined Lenovo as Chief Counsel for Lenovo Mobile Business Group as part of our acquisition of Motorola Mobility in 2014. The transition is effective immediately. Clemens will remain with the company through the end of its fiscal year in March to assist Offer with organizational alignment and other matters.
