Here are 16 things you need to know about New York City FC's 2016 MLS regular season schedule:
1. The 2016 Home Opener is on Sunday, March 13 against Toronto FC at 5 p.m. on ESPN 2.
2. For the first time, the Red Bulls will play two matches at Yankee Stadium in a season (May 21 and July 3)
3. New York City FC defender RJ Allen will face off against his younger brother, Brandon Allen, three times this season (May 21, July 3 and July 24) when New York City FC plays the Red Bulls.
4. New York City FC will play six matches in July, the most of any month.
5. In that same month of July, New York City FC will go on a four-game road trip (New England on July 6, Kansas City on July 10, Montreal on July 17 and the Red Bulls on July 24), the longest of the season.
6. The two longest home stands each feature four matches, one from March 13-April 10 (Toronto on March 13, Orlando on March 18, New England on March 26 and Chicago on April 10) and the other from May 21 – June 18 (Red Bulls on May 21, Orlando on June 29, Real Salt Lake on June 2 and Philadelphia on June 18).
7. New York City FC will take on the defending MLS Cup Champion Portland Timbers on May 15. It will be the first time the Club travels to Portland.
8. New York City FC will travel to five new venues this season (Portland on May 15, Seattle on June 25, Kansas City on July 10, San Jose on Aug. 5 and Houston on Sept. 30).
9. Five MLS Clubs will make their first trip to Yankee Stadium (Vancouver on April 30, Real Salt Lake on June 2, Colorado on July 30, Los Angeles on Aug. 20 and Dallas on Sept. 17)
10. New York City FC will play 13 matches on Sundays this year (five at home, eight on the road), the most of any day of the week. (12 Matches on Saturdays, four matches on Fridays, three matches on Wednesdays and two matches on Thursdays)
11. The month of October only features two matches (D.C. United on the 16th and Columbus on the 23rd), the fewest of any month.
12. In a six-day span between May 15 and May 21, New York City FC plays three matches (at Portland on May 15, at Toronto on May 18 and at home against the Red Bulls on May 21) the most in a six-day span for the 2016 season.
13. New York City FC will make three separate trips to the west coast; first to Portland on May 15, then to Seattle on June 25 and finally to San Jose on Aug. 5.
14. New York City FC will play San Jose on Aug 5 at 11 p.m. EST, the latest start of the season.
15. Mehdi Ballouchy will face five of his former teams this season (Vancouver, Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, Colorado and San Jose)
16. New York City FC will conclude the 2016 MLS regular season at home against Columbus on Oct. 23rd.
