Dogwoof has reached an agreement with A&E IndieFilms for international rights (excluding North America, Australia and New Zealand) and UK distribution to the award winning documentary feature, Life, Animated from director Roger Ross Williams. Life, Animated is produced by Julie Goldman and Williams, with Molly Thompson, Robert DeBitetto, Robert Sharenow and Ron Suskind serving as executive producers. Williams won the Directing Award in the US Documentary category for the film at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Dogwoof is presenting the film to buyers at Berlinale’s EFM. A UK theatrical release is planned for Autumn 2016.

“Life, Animated is a gem. An entertaining, up-lifting, and profoundly moving film which will change peoples’ perspectives on autism. We can't wait to show it to international buyers.” Anna Godas, CEO, Dogwoof

“A&E IndieFilms and Dogwoof have had a successful partnership in the past and we are happy to join forces again with Anna and her team to bring Life, Animated to the international market,” said Molly Thompson, Senior Vice President, A&E IndieFilms.

“We are very excited to work with Dogwoof on Life, Animated and eager to have them bring our film to audiences around the world.” Julie Goldman, Producer

Life, Animated is a coming of age story about Owen Suskind, who ceased speaking at three years old, disappearing into autism. The film tells the story of how Owen found in Disney animation a pathway to language and a framework for making sense of the world. Life, Animated interweaves classic Disney sequences with verité scenes from Owen’s life, along with original animations based on Owen’s own drawings, where he imagines himself heroically facing adversity with his tribe of sidekicks.

The documentary is based on the best-selling book, “Life Animated: A Story of Sidekicks, Heroes and Autism,” by Owen’s father, Pulitzer Prize winner Ron Suskind.

"Life, Animated is a global collaboration with a creative team that came from far and wide; ranging from our wonderfully inspired animators in Paris at MacGuff to our phenomenal sound design team at Skywalker Sound in California. This is why we are so excited to be partnering with Dogwoof for our international distribution because they have introduced the world to so many great international documentaries.” Roger Ross Williams, Director/Producer

The Orchard recently acquired North American rights to Life, Animated.
