Before anyone rolls their eyes and thinks "Why on earth would I go out for just spaghetti?" you need to think again: Spaghetti Incident is one of the most impressive new venues to us this season, and it's been open since May 21, 2015. Owned by native Italians Ettore Pardossi of Pisa, Sous Chef, Giovanni Gentile of Forli, Host (both of whom we met and are above) and Emanuele Attala, Executive Chef and native of Rimini, Spaghetti Incident puts the P in pasta.
This is no ordinary spaghetti!
And since when are we interested in ordinary anything???
A special of the day under Arancini: Arancini al Pesto!
Basil Pesto Rice and Gorgonzola was a fresh, welcoming start.
Inside:
Four impressive salad selections greeted us on our inaugural visit to Spaghetti Incident.
We like it when restaurants put effort into salad!
The Mango and Avocado edition was glorious!
Arugula, Scallions, both white and black sesame seeds, and of course Mango were all fresh and fantastic. All organic ingredients go into this salad and the produce is bought every day we were told. Lemon Mango Juice and cayenne pepper composed the dressing, which we liked! They listened and put it on the side.
How come everyone does not make salads this delicious and attractive?
We were equally impressed with Kill the Kale, another salad which you ought to try.
Spaghetti Incident earns high points for fun names; you know names are important to us.
Kale, steamed white cauliflower and local crispy shrimps breaded fresh every day excel together and make this their bestselling salad. A lot of other restaurants could learn from their salad dressings which are fresh, hip and unyucky: Carrots Ginger Dressing impressed us here, also arriving appropriately on the side.
It's not news that the Italians put every other ethnicity to shame in cuisine (disclaimer: Peachy is not Italian: this is her honest experience) but it is news that there is a new restaurant you need to know about by authentic Italians that care a lot about doing a great job. We especially liked the cleanliness levels we saw everywhere. You could eat off the floor here! How many times have you heard us say that?
You are going to cry when your plate is empty: it is that awesome.
This edition is the Salsiccia E Broccoli.
Dried pasta, super succulent sausage (from Ottomanelli!) sauteed in Pinot Grigio and broccoli rabe are a trio of goodness that is like an offensive scoring line in the Stanley Cup Playoffs that's going to have a hat trick in your stomach. (P.S. Rod Gilbert says he is picking the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Cup last week.)
Every component is fresh, high quality and a great teammate on the plate.
Here's their classic bestseller: Chitarra.
You must try it!
Homemade Mozzarella fresh from the West Village, Basil and Fresh Chopped Tomato Sauce is simple yet extraordinary. The gorgeous savory aroma will envelop your senses and you'll revel in gastronomic ecstasy.
Less is more and this is a winner.
It's difficult to say which of these was our favorite (kind of like the new Lotus shoes that just arrived) but if we had to pick we think we'd pick this one.
Meet Salmone and Asparagi!
The ultimate in spaghetti sophistication is steamed asparagus, capers, chopped fresh salmon and of course spaghetti dance in a creamy vodka sauce. If this dish was on Dancing with the Stars tonight in the finale it would win the Mirror ball.
You want to order dessert and the Lemon Meringue Pie is the ultimate in light and luxurious and the raspberry sauce elevates the level of decadence to increase your happiness.
It's made on premises.
Yes, Spaghetti Incident is Terrific Takeout!
We look forward to seeing what they do next.
