The Recording Academy® Statement Re: Chips Moman June 14, 2016
"The versatile songwriter and producer Chips Moman was the man behind the control board who helped create numerous chart-topping hits for Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, and Aretha Franklin, among others. The two-time GRAMMY® winner was also a gifted guitarist, and his soulful approach to songwriting resulted in memorable hits such as James Carr’s 'The Dark End Of The Street' and Franklin’s 'Do Right Woman, Do Right Man.' While he will be greatly missed, his contributions to music will live on. We offer our condolences to his family, friends and creative collaborators."
