The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ regarding the implementation of the expanded Information Technology Agreement (ITA):
"American businesses who manufacture and export technology and information products, including loudspeakers, next generation semiconductors, lifesaving medical devices and gaming equipment, can celebrate this holiday weekend the expansion of the ITA. The updated agreement serves as a reminder that when countries work together to improve trade relations the United States wins. This trade agreement is expected to contribute as much as $190 billion in GDP, add 60,000 new jobs to the economy and remove almost $800 billion in tariffs.
"Just as ITA opens new doors for U.S. companies, TPP is another example of a trade agreement that can help move the American economy forward. If TPP were approved today, it would end more than 18,000 different taxes on American exports, help expand the three million jobs supported by exports and bring more opportunities to American companies."
