It is an extremely happy day at Whom You Know when we find a new pizza place to brag to you about, and Kiss My Slice Pizza lives up to its name entirely. It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW silly and you know that by now.
Now we know Dano Weisse, who has created something beautiful right across the street from Port Authority, which is an area that absolutely could use aesthetics.
What is beautiful?
His food.
And all BestBus riders should be aware of this location as riding on a bus to Washington, D.C. will make you hungry, and it is literally around the corner.
Born in Brooklyn, Dano grew up in Westchester, New York and he has been an entrepreneur for two decades; you can taste this in every bite. Kiss My Slice was inaugurated in December 2014, and this is our first visit. Dano knows what he is doing; not everyone uses San Marzano tomatoes but of course he does. He is committed to quality and fresh ingredients and it's clear he has the kind of personality to excel in the field of hospitality. You do not need to tell him to smile! He exudes joy in his pizza-crafting. Kiss My Slice derives its name from the fact that the food is so good, you will want to kiss it. That is an Italian trait we understand; Dano is part Italian.
Avid readers know that Peachy Deegan loved the chicken parm at lower at BC and always is looking for chicken parm in great incarnations in Manhattan. She found another one here: meet the chicken parmesean platter which is joined by al dente penne and delicious sauce. It is made fresh every day, breaded with panko breadcrumbs.
If you think all green salads look this fabulous, particularly in the Times Square/Port Authority area, think again. The Greek Salad by Kiss My Slice Pizza is standout awesome, and they put the dressing on the side for the picky one here. Romaine lettuce, onions, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese and grape leaves are ready to party with your pizza in their divine freshness. Look at how carefully everything is cut up to perfection.
Does your salad smile at you?
Obviously, the pizza is the star of the show here. It has no weakness and from the sauce to the cheese to the precisely sliced and diced ingredients to the heavenly crust, the finished product is just gorgeous, darling. It is a shame to mess it up by eating it, but that is the whole point, n'est pas?
We try to be pretty healthy in our topping choices and the symphony of nutrition had notes of mushroom, spinach, tomato, red onion and garlic, and of course Peachy's most favorite vegetable, mozzarella. Nearly half the pizza was gone quite quickly...actions speak louder than words!
