Golden Tea Leaf Co. Recommended by Whom You Know

Peachy's Pantry is delighted to share with you we've found a new tea brand to enjoy: Golden Leaf.  We understand that
Golden Tea Leaf Co. is made up of a group of tea enthusiasts with a passion for affordable high quality, single estate, single origin whole leaf tea presented in convenient silk sachets for easy brewing. The teas are hand harvested and small batch processed to bring out the unique flavors. Using proprietary processing methods, the company strives to craft rare and fragrant teas naturally grown and sustainably produced from a single farm in the pristine mountains of Taiwan.  Whom You Know tried four types of tea:

GOLDEN LEAF HONEY RED JADE TEA: The flavor of this tea is so smooth, unlike any other black tea that I have experienced. There is no bitter after taste. I love the silk sachet as it allows the true flavor of the tea to flow through. This tea is excellent either iced or hot as it is versatile. The flavor of this tea is so refreshing that it can be enjoyed without sugar or milk. I like tea once in a while and I would say that the Honey Red Jade Tea by Golden Leaf is a very pleasant tea to drink morning or night...The award winning Honey Red Jade Tea is a treat and you really can smell the honey and the taste is very traditional with a small hint of citrus. Some teas have a bitter taste but the Honey Red Jade Tea does not.
For a warm and soothing cup of tea hot or cold that tastes really fantastic, try Honey Red Jade Tea because this is a great relaxing and enjoyable tea…
Honey Red Jade Tea, a noble name and delightful tea has become our favorite. Fermented and ripe with fragrant honey, this is a tea to drink to greet your morning, salute an afternoon, or enjoy a starry evening sky.
This unique fully oxidized “bug bitten” black tea is rarely found outside of Taiwan. It is often likened to the Oriental Beauty, a very expensive and limited production oolong. A kilo of authentic Champion grade Oriental Beauty sells for $8,000 – but finding any to purchase is also rare. The “bug bitten” Honey Red Jade tea is grown naturally to encourage tea leafhoppers to feed on the leaves which creates an enzyme reaction that produces the natural honey fragrance and taste. This tea brews to a dark caramel color with a sweet fragrance and refreshing taste. Honey Red Jade tea is irresistible when hot but even better when it has cooled. The unique sweet floral and honey fragrance becomes more pronounced and a hint of citrus emerges. This tea can be left in a cup or tumbler without concern for over steeping, going cold or becoming bitter. Golden Tea Leaf Co. has created the Honey Red Jade as an everyday convenient luxury tea.
Our panel enjoyed the Honey Red Jade tea the most of the four varieties we tried.
GOLDEN LEAF JASMINE OOLONG TEA: This tea is so aromatic. The delightful fragrance of Jasmine is so refreshing that you enjoy the tea even before tasting it! The sweet floral tones also pair well with honey. This Jasmine tea would be very refreshing as an iced tea also. The scent of the Jasmine tea is so delicate and soothing it promotes a sense of well-being.
Relax into a sunny afternoon with their Jasmine Oolong; lose yourself in a slim volume of your favorite poetry and feel the world out there in a cup of tea.

GOLDEN LEAF PINE OOLONG TEA: This tea is a very light and refreshing tea. Pine Oolong Tea would be perfect as an iced tea on a hot summer day. Green tea is so good for your health and knowing that makes me enjoy it more.
The creativity in the tea farming and processing carries over into Golden Leaf Tea's presentation. Packaging is of the utmost importance, and the names of each tea will roll off the tongue as you sip and sample your way through their stable of tea leaves with an almost magical power.
Pioneered by Golden Tea Leaf Co., the Pine oolong tea is a semi-oxidized delicate green oolong tea that brews to a light honey color with a slightly floral sweet fragrance which lingers after the last sip. It is highly unique for its hot or cold brewing options which makes it convenient, and perfect, for all seasons. Easier on the stomach, green tea fans will quickly convert to this tea after the first cup.

GOLDEN LEAF CHARCOAL ROASTED JADE OOLONG TEA: This is a great tea for those of us that savor a robust flavor. It would make a hardy iced tea due to its prevalent flavor; it would not have a diluted taste. This tea would be a great afternoon pick-me-up. It's summertime and iced tea might just happen to be your beverage of choice. With the Golden Leaf Tea company, iced tea becomes a leap into a world of flavor.
Their Charcoal Roasted Jade Oolong is fragrant, and lends itself to a cool beverage with no sweetener needed, it's that fragrant and delectable. Golden Leaf Teas are a study in themselves.  Hand picked from the pristine mountainsides of Taiwan, the leaves are roasted, steeped, infused, fermented, and presented in such a way that you feel like you've just graduated to a new level. Time for a Tea Pairing Party, with such a wide selection. Tiny silk bags hold the perfect amount of tea.
There is nothing typical about oolong tea nor is it commonly consumed in the Western world but, when it comes to tea, oolong offers the greatest diversity of flavour, complexity and body, with Taiwan currently considered its most noteworthy producer. The Charcoal Roasted Jade Oolong is an original tea created and only available from the Golden Tea Leaf Co. It has been roasted over a low charcoal heat repeatedly to create a distinctly fragrant tea. The liquor is a beautiful light amber, with a milky sweetness, easy on the palate and stomach. It stores well, impervious to heat and oxidation.

Each of Golden Tea Leaf Co.’s silk bags contain three grams of whole leaf tea, which is above the industry standard and allows for multiple brews. One sachet will last the entire day by adding more water to the cup as it steeps and the leaves bloom, but will never gain a bitter taste. Each box contains individual foil wrapped sachets featuring pyramid shaped silk bags. Prices for the boxed tea sachets start at $11.99. Golden Tea Leaf Co. offers black, green, oolong and Pu erh teas in amounts ranging from 50g to 100g or more and available in tea sachets or loose tea options.

“As the tea industry starts to take its cues from the world of wine and becomes as complex and sophisticated, it means consumers are looking for pure higher quality luxury teas that are still affordable,” said Peggy Lee, Owner of Golden Tea Leaf Co. “At Golden Tea Leaf Co. we strive to craft fragrant teas that are naturally grown, sustainably produced, hand harvested and small batch processed using proprietary methods to bring out the unique flavors. Tea is just a plant. It’s the proprietary roasting techniques, the environment and the quality of care that goes into growing and harvesting the plant that matters. I know the farmer, the daily weather forecast, when the harvest will take place and every other important detail related to my tea. One sip, is to love them.”

Peggy graduated in the late 1990 from University of British Columbia, with an English Literature major and Classical Studies minor. Peggy has been more than just an avid tea lover; she wants to introduce the wonderful and unique teas of her heritage to North America. “Tea is the second most drunk liquids in the world, water is the first,” says Peggy, “and yet, we never even think further that tea can have all the wonderful healthful benefit in addition to tasting great. It is time to re-introduce tea and bring back this soothing and delicious romance.”

Under Peggy’s direction, Golden Tea Leaf Co. won two First Place awards and one Third Place award at the 2015 North American Tea Championship in March of 2016. Since then, Golden Tea Leaf Co. has continued to win awards. Most recently, Golden Tea Leaf Co. won the Buyer’s Choice Award for Best Black Tea in the 2016 World Tea Expo.
