TEAM FINLAND MEETS TEAM USA AT VERIZON CENTER
The World Cup of Hockey pre-tournament schedule resumes on Tuesday night when Team Finland faces Team USA at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. There are three Capitals players on Team USA – John Carlson, Matt Niskanen and T.J. Oshie – more representatives than any other NHL team on the American roster.
* Team USA is 1-1 in pre-tournament action after splitting back-to-back games against Team Canada. On Friday, Sept. 9, Team USA secured a 4-2 victory on home soil at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, followed by a 5-2 loss to Canada on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. Patrick Kane (1-2—3) and Derek Stepan (1-2—3) lead Team USA in scoring through two pre-tournament games.
* Team Finland also holds a 1-1 record through two pre-tournament games, both versus rival Team Sweden. Defenseman Olli Maatta scored at 4:17 of overtime on Thursday, Sept. 8, to lead Team Finland to a 3-2 win at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland. On Saturday, Sept. 10, Finland fell 6-3 to Team Sweden at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden. Captain Mikko Koivu leads Team Finland in scoring with 1-2—3 after two exhibition games.
SAM ROBERTS BAND, DAYA ADDED TO PEPSI WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY PREMIERE PARTY
Canadian rockers Sam Roberts Band and singer/songwriter Daya have joined The Killers as part of the musical lineup for the Pepsi World Cup of Hockey Premiere Party at the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in downtown Toronto’s Distillery District on Friday, Sept. 16. The event will also feature a parade of all players competing in World Cup of Hockey 2016 with tickets available for purchase via Ticketmaster.ca.

The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village, a 10-day free fan festival in downtown Toronto at the historic Distillery District, will be open to the public from Sept. 16-25.
