The GRAMMY Foundation® has launched its 19th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative® Writing Competition co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries. The ELI Writing Competition invites law students to write a 3,000-word paper on a compelling legal topic facing the music industry today. Acash scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to the author of the winning paper, and$1,500 will be awarded to each of the four runners-up. Additionally, each winner will receive airfare, hotel accommodations, and a ticket to the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, which will be held at Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. The telecast will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The winners will also receive invitations to other GRAMMY® Week activities, including the prestigious annualELI Luncheon & Scholarship Presentation on Feb. 10, 2017, where the winning students will present their essays. Past luncheon keynote speakers include Tom Brokaw, Clive Davis, Daniel Ek, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, Martin Mills, Darius Van Arman, and former GRAMMY Foundation Board member will.i.am, among others.
