The Recording Academy® Statement Re: Neville Marriner Oct. 3, 2016
"
During his nearly 70-year career, Sir Neville Marriner made difficult, prodigious work look effortless and he became one of the most important and vibrant conductors of our time. A three-time GRAMMY Award® winner, Neville led some of the most important orchestras, and founded the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, one of the world’s most acclaimed chamber orchestras. Beloved by classical fans for many generations, Neville’s mainstream popularity was boosted by his work on the 1984 film Amadeus, for which he served as music supervisor and conducted the soundtrack. Our thoughts go out to Neville’s family, friends, and the many musicians with whom he collaborated. He will be greatly missed."
