It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Angela.
Angela's Montana Table was first featured this past summer:
It's not too often a place brand new to us is featured for two consecutive seasons, but that's how much we enjoy this comfort food that is ideal on a day like today.
Even if you think your Thanksgiving dinner was fantastic, we're sure Angela could do that better too.  In the wide world of Manhattan dining,
there are people that kill themselves trying to be overly creative that mix flavors that shouldn't ever go together in their efforts to try to become memorable but just leave us feeling sick.  An authentic original, Angela is not trying to establish a new identity for herself; she knows what flavors go well and she shows her style in both flavor and personality and her cuisine outshines her a competition for everybody that's a newcomer in the business of Manhattan dining. Besides we don't need to wonder where Angela's identity is from - we know she's from Montana, silly!
Let's meet her fall menu.
We did not order this but we should have-Angela suggested we try the Roasted Cauliflower and Brussel Sprouts Gratin.  It smelled great in its lovely cast iron presentation.  We fell in love with the Asiago cheese, aged cheddar and a tiny accent of cream cheese that teamed up with these vegetables for a delicious starter.
There it is smiling at you. It insisted on getting a closeup.
Angela next suggested the Puree of Pumpkin soup with crushed pistachios.
It boasted a fresh authentic flavor, hearty texture and was spiced just right.
This soup is quintessential fall in New York.
Angela's Pork Carnitas absolutely hit the spot and they are were the first members of this cast to be gone completely.  They were perfectly crisp on the outside and are the ideal snack or game food, football watchers!  We even liked BOTH sauces: spicy green sauce, which had fabulous color: jalapeno-based with vinegar, garlic and onions and the sour cream.
Pickled red onions and jack cheese joined this party.
Also we liked the pop of color in the sauce containers.
We enjoyed the perfectly chopped Romaine, cucumber, pickled red onions, croutons (made on premises), tomato, kalamata olives and marinated queso fresco which composed exactly what you'd want in a green salad!  Angela put the red wine vinaigrette on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky.
Poultry enthusiasts, rejoice!  Angela's sauteed balsamic chicken is simply sublime.  It's joined by mushrooms, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables in a generous portion that brings warmth and comfort to your appetite.
"We're trying to continue to appeal to the neighborhood and give people what they're looking for.  I have a lot of repeat customers which is a good thing; we aspire to be a neighborhood place where people feel comfortable."
-Angela Gerdum

Finally, the crispy skin filet of sea bass with saffron rice truly wowed our palate.  Zucchini, red peppers and seasonal vegetables reveled in a citrus soy sauce.
Angela's Montana Table is Terrific Takeout!
We still can't wait to tell you about what she does next.
