It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and now we finally know Campagna Quattro Gatti and the fantastic
Remo Mastrangelo!  This is his inaugural feature on Whom You Know for his restaurant that he opened on September 15, 1985.
Remo tells us the day we met him is the only day since he opened this restaurant that he has EVER spoken to a critic.  We are honored!  Thank you Remo for talking to us and we hope you feel it was pleasant and worth it.  We are told we are not like everyone else.
His family in Italy has been in the restaurant business for the last 75 years on the Amalfi coast and the name of this restaurant is derived from the Picasso painting of the four cats; Picasso is Remo's favorite artist.  Remo also has a location in Austin, Texas that opened in 2009 and is owned and run by his son, Gianfranco. People named Gianfranco have a very good track record on Whom You Know...
Look at that gorgeous salad, and we do not ever edit the pictures.
It is the truth that it looks this fresh and delicious!
Meet their signature Insalata Quattro Gatti.
Mesclun salad is joined by roasted peppers, anchovies and mozzarella which respectively radiate out of the center in their fabulous combination.
Those anchovies are straight from Italy's Amalfi Coast, and they put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky.
The pasta selection is magnificent and we had a difficult time narrowing it down to one, though we were entirely happy with Remo's Linguine Alla Positano.
We found this aesthetically-motivated classic of linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari to absolutely emanate the wonders of the sea with its tremendous fresh flavor and al dente achievement.
There literally are over 20 pasta choices on the menu and Peachy's stomach has more ambitious plans for meeting some of them in the future.
By now Peachy was picking up on the feline beat (because everything else is obsolete-you have seen The Aristocats, n'est pas?) and for the Pollo section, she chose the Pollo Mare e Monte.  A celebration of sophisticated simplicity, this breast of chicken with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms in a thyme and lemon sauce triumphs over all trendy.  This amazing combination was further highlighted by carrots, green beans and potatoes, three of our most favorite vegetables.
For our Pesce selection, the Branzino al Forno was suggested by Remo.  He goes to Hunts Point for fish every two days and the freshness here is obvious as well as the pride he takes in his vocation.  The splendors of this whole roasted branzino was superior to many others we've tried and embellished with Remo's signature chopped tomato, olives and capers, all of which waltz beautifully in lemon, evoo and white wine.
And voila, perfectly filleted:
Campagna Quattro Gatti Ristorante is Highly Recommended by Machu Peachy!  Her tastebuds erupt with praise and we look forward to seeing what Remo does next, because everybody wants to be a cat.
