BLACKHAWKS, CAPITALS PUSH WIN STREAKS TO FIVE GAMES. . .
The Blackhawks (8-3-1, 17 points) and Capitals (8-2-1, 17 points) earned wins on Saturday to push their winning streaks to five games.
* Patrick Kane (1-1—2) scored the go-ahead goal at 7:40 of the third period to power the Blackhawks to an 8-1-1 record in their past ten games, including five consecutive victories. Artem Anisimov (0-1—1) set up Kane’s game-winning goal to extend his career-high point streak to 10 contests (7-8—15). Anisimov and Kane (4-11—15) are tied with Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov (4-11—15) for most points this season.
* T.J. Oshie (2-0—2) and Alexander Ovechkin (1-1—2) paced the Capitals, who scored three unanswered goals in a span of 4:45 in the third period, to push their win streak to five games. Braden Holtby made 22 saves to improve to 6-2-1 this season, including four straight wins (2.20 GAA, .921 SV%).
. . . RANGERS EXTEND THEIR WINNING STREAK TO FOUR
Derek Stepan (1-2—3) and Kevin Hayes (1-0—1) scored back-to-back shorthanded goals to lead the Rangers (9-3-0, 18 points) to their fourth consecutive victory and a 7-1-0 record in their last eight games.
* The Rangers have outscored their opponents 21-6 during the four-game winning streak, scoring at least five goals in each contest.
* New York has registered nine wins through their first 12 games of the season, tied for the most wins in the first 12 games of any season in franchise history (also 1983-84, 1990-91 and 2008-09).
PENGUINS BLANK SHARKS IN STANLEY CUP REMATCH
Matt Murray denied all 32 shots he faced and Sidney Crosby (2-0—2) recorded his second straight multi-goal game to lead the Penguins over the Sharks in their first visit to SAP Center since their Stanley Cup-clinching victory on June 12 (3-1 W).
* Crosby has recorded at least one point in all six of his appearances this season (8-2—10) and leads the NHL in goals, despite making his season debut on Oct. 25.
* The Penguins captain has collected at least one point in 26 of his last 27 regular-season contests dating to Feb. 29 (19-20—39).
* Murray has won nine consecutive regular-season decisions dating to March 6 at NJD and improved to 11-2-1 in 15 career games.
WORKING OVERTIME
The Blues (6-4-2, 14 points), Oilers (8-3-1, 17 points) and Hurricanes (3-4-3, nine points) all needed extra time to secure wins on Saturday:
* Vladimir Tarasenko scored his fifth career regular-season overtime goal with 42.1 seconds remaining in the extra frame to power the Blues to a 4-1-1 home record. He moved into a tie with Brett Hull for third on the franchise’s all-time regular-season overtime goals list.
* The Oilers overcame deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before Mark Letestu notched the decisive goal in the shootout to help Edmonton halt a three-game skid (0-2-1) and improve to 8-3-1 overall.
* Jeff Skinner (1-0—1) and Ron Hainsey (1-0—1) scored in regulation and Jaccob Slavin potted the only goal in a three-round shootout to lead the Hurricanes to victory. Skinner leads Carolina with 6-6—12 in nine games this season, including four goals in his last four games.

Avalanche goaltender Calvin Pickard (32 SV) blanked the Wild to improve to 3-0-0 this season (1.67 GAA, .944 SV%, 1 SO) . . . Five different skaters scored to help the Canadiens rebound from a 10-0 loss vs. CBJ on Friday and improve to 10-1-1 this season . . . Carey Price (34 SV) improved to 7-0-0 this season (1.17 GAA, .964 SV%, 1 SO) . . . Kings goaltender Peter Budaj (24 SV) recorded his first shutout since Oct. 28, 2013 . . . The Lightning scored four unanswered goals to improve to 4-1-1 at home this season. . . DUCKS LOOK TO CONTINUE HOME EDGE OVER FLAMES
The Ducks aim to pick up their 24th consecutive regular-season home victory over the Flames on Sunday night. Anaheim’s active 23-game run, which dates back to April 4, 2004 (CGY: 0-18-5), matches the longest regular-season home winning streak against one opponent in NHL history. The Flyers are the only other team to post such a run, defeating the Penguins 23 straight times on home ice from Feb. 17, 1980 – Jan. 29, 1987.
